Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

The Real Saturday

I enjoyed solid sleep last night and woke quite refreshed at 7.30am, but didn’t leave my room until 8am.

It was a cool, wet morning, but Harley and I squeezed some playtime in between rain showers.

At 9.30am BGWLBH came to a realisation that required her to go into The Bay, so I joined her and we got to town just before 11am.

We returned at 3pm  and Harley got some more play time in before I sat down for the footy.

Received a call from Number One Son and he will be here on Monday! Much earlier than expected! I can’t wait to see him because it has been far too long.

For tonight’s dinner (fend for yourself), I cooked my prawns in an egg batter and made a sweet chilli dipping sauce.

My footy tipping has been pretty poor again this weekend, but so has everybody else’s so, right now, I’m not bothered.

It’s 9pm and I’m comfortable in bed, about to turn off the abysmal Broncos game, to watch the tennis.

Feels Like Saturday

Today felt like Saturday.

A lazy Saturday.

I slept until 9.05am so I had a solid 9 hours sleep. Who doesn’t love that!?

I didn’t remove myself from the bedroom until 10am!

Harley, again, was very patient so we had a big play around the pool until the rain sent us inside.

We had 11mm overnight and more light rain today.

I cleaned and decluttered the storage container shelf of the pantry.

Shelled 3 sand crabs and while doing so, ate the meat from the legs and claws. Yum.

I watched an Australian movie called “A Stitch in Time” which I really enjoyed.

I prepared the marinade for tonight’s chicken wings.

After Harley play this afternoon, I decided to have some quiet time in my bedroom, so I’ve been on my lovely bed since 4pm.

Adoring Husband brought the chicken wings to me so I ate dinner in bed.

Harley has come to say hello a couple of times.

I’m going to watch the tennis (Popyrin is playing tonight) and the football in my bedroom. It’s such a nice space to be for me.

So I’m now off to enjoy an evening of solitude.

Love a Rainy Night

As I lay here, snuggled in between my two body pillows and surrounded by six pillows and a stuffed fluffy sloth, I can hear the rain falling gently on the roof and I’m feeling very relaxed.

The French Open tennis is playing on the TV, Harley is asleep on the floor in his pen and the world is quiet.

I was up at 6am to put the safety cones out for Adoring Husband, at the shop footpath… because he was still away at golf.

When I returned home and climbed back into bed it was still warm from my residual body heat, and I stayed there until 7.30am.

I had a shower before giving Harley some playtime and then got ready for another day in The Bay.

Adoring Husband was supposed to visit Mon Repos before coming home from his golf trip, but he decided against it and came home early. He was home at 9am, just as BGWLBH and I arrived in The Bay.

We had breakfast at Holistic Healing Haven and drove to Tinkerbell’s to pick up my layby…

It’s green jade with a peridot and about the size of my little finger.

Then it was our usual haunts, some groceries, fruit and veg, seafood, newsagent blah blah blah.

We arrived home before 2pm so I got to catch up on AH’s golf stories, unpacked the grocery bags, watched my quiz shows, cooked zucchini slice and served it with chips and salad for dinner, played trivia and watched the Aussie, De Minaur, get beaten by Bublik in the French Open.

In the middle of that match, Number One Son called and suggested that he come visit us next month! Woot! Woot! It’s been 7 years since he was here. Can’t wait! AH was in bed by then, so he doesn’t even know yet. BGWLBH will be happy too.

Best clear out the back bedroom in preparation haha.

We’ve had three big days in The Bay and I think I’m getting too old for that kind of nonsense so I need to sleep now.

Feeling Weary

Had a good day in The Bay with BGWLBH.

Had breakfast at Arkarra Tea Gardens, which was lovely.

Had a peaceful evening without Adoring Husband and didn’t have to cook because BGWLBH shouted us dinner of roast chicken, potato bake and Asian slaw. Lemon drizzle cake for dessert.

Was very disappointed that QLD lost State of Origin, though I did expect it because NSW have a very strong team.

Had to go to work for AH because he is in Bargara golfing.

Now I need to sleep because I have to get up early, 6am, to put the safety cones out on the loose tiles at the shops.

Power Out

In case I haven’t mentioned it, the French Open tennis started on Sunday.

There is limited coverage on 9Gem, otherwise all the matches are available to view on Stan Sport. I recently cancelled my Stan Sport subscription because I only use it 3 times each year and it was costing $17 per month.

Now I’m torn. I wonder if I can subscribe for just one month? I will investigate further.

Because there was a power outage from 8.30am - 1.30pm today, BGWLBH and I escaped into The Bay.

There was a very bad traffic accident between a ute and a cement truck on the road into town, so we were redirected through the industrial area. The road was blocked for a good 6-7 hours and I know that the ute driver was trapped in his vehicle for quite some time. I hope he’ll be ok.

I cooked honey/soy chicken breast with crushed potato and mixed veg for dinner.

Adoring Husband is off to Bargara to play golf tomorrow.

I’ve decided to not attend the Burrum Babes luncheon tomorrow. I know I won’t feel comfortable or be able to enjoy myself because of some others who will be in attendance.

I’m going to be kind to myself and make the right decision for me.

The right decision for me now, is to sleep.

More Writing

I’m sitting here trying to remember how I filled my day.

No annoying neighbours to keep me awake last night, but I had to get up at 12.30am to turn off Adoring Husband’s TV because the volume was so high, it was keeping me awake through my closed door (my bedroom is at the front of the house), all the way down the long hallway to the back of the house, through HIS closed door!

I was so annoyed, I didn’t do it quietly!

I burst through the door, turned on the light, searched for the remote (which was underneath him!), turned off the TV, tossed the remote onto his bedside table, turned off the light and pulled the door shut quite loudly.

He didn’t even budge.

This morning, he had no idea that I’d even been in his room.

Ugh 😩

Then I woke at 7.20am to the sound of him cooking in the kitchen and banging draws, cupboards and rattling cutlery.

I tell ya, he’s treading a very thin line.

I played with Harley, made myself a bacon and egg roll for breakfast and watched Great British Sewing Bee before remembering that I hadn’t submitted a photo for 52Frames! I had two hours left before the deadline!

So I did this …

The theme was High ISO.

The next theme is ‘Through the Looking Glass’.

I struggled today, because with the latest auto ‘update’ on the MacBook this week, it changed something in the photo editing program and the size of my edited photo was too large to be accepted by 52Frames. This has never happened before, so it took me a while to figure out why and then figure out how to resize it.

I fixed it just in the nick of time.

Once that was done, I could settle in to do more writing of my book until Harley’s next playtime.

AH spent time in the storage shed decluttering, so Harley was enjoying Dad time.

I cooked Barramundi steaks in the oven, wrapped in baking paper with salt, pepper, butter, lemon slices, crushed garlic and chopped fresh chilli. I served them with buttered boiled potato and a stir fried veggie mix of carrot, capsicum, beans, snow peas, dried cranberries, tomato and sprinkled with goats cheese.

Good reviews.

We played trivia.

Farmer Wants a Wife.

About Me

I have spent most of today in my bedroom writing my "About Me" book.

Even though my neighbour across the street was very quiet last night, I still didn't get to sleep until 1am. I think I was just expecting Saturday night to be as loud or louder than the previous two nights so I psyched myself into it.

It was after 9am when I dragged myself out of bed. Harley was very patient.

We played for 30 minutes and after I gave him his treats, I made myself a pork sausage burger for brunch.

I watched some golf on TV with Adoring Husband and then decided to return to my bed to do some writing. I think I got almost 4 hours of writing before AH disturbed my peace asking what I was doing for dinner. It was 5.20pm so I reluctantly, and with some resentment, left my room to make dinner.

It took me 30 minutes to prepare a green curry chicken with boiled rice.

We played trivia.

AH and I watched the 1% Club and both retired to bed early.

With the French Open Tennis on the TV in the background, I've spent the last 3 hours writing more in my book.

I feel a bit weary now, so I think I shall attempt sleep.
