Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

My Sunday

I went to Coles yesterday and I have to tell you this, I was behind a grandfather and his badly-behaved grandson. He has his hands full with the child screaming for lollies, biscuits, all sorts of things.

The granddad is saying in a controlled voice: “Easy, William, we won’t be long . . . easy boy.”

Another outburst and I heard the granddad calmly say : “It’s okay William. Just a couple more minutes and we’ll be out of here. Hang in there, boy.”

At the checkout the little horror is throwing items out of the trolley. Granddad says again in a controlled voice : “William, William, relax buddy, don’t get upset. We’ll be home in five minutes, stay cool William.”

Well, I was really impressed, and when I got outside I saw the grandfather  loading his groceries and the boy into the car.

I walked over and said to the Grandad “It’s none of my business, but you were amazing in there. I don’t know how you did it. That whole time you kept your composure, and no matter how loud and disruptive he got, you just calmly kept saying things would be okay. William is very lucky to have you as his granddad.”

“Thanks,” said the Granddad. “But I am William. The little bastard’s name is Harry!!

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Today was a very lazy Sunday.

I was woken by kitchen noise at 7.12am - today is Sunday, so I was NOT happy, and even though I was tempted to get up and yell at the culprit, I decided to breathe it out and send them ‘love’ from my bedroom.

Ugh.

I reluctantly climbed out of bed at 10am and took Harley straight out to play. I tended my little garden before heading to my kitchen to make brunch.

I was looking forward to some of the new spelt sour dough bread that we bought at the markets yesterday. Sadly, BGWLBH had eaten it all. A whole loaf in 18 hours - and she was asleep for a good portion of that. Not happy Jan.

Ugh.

In Coles yesterday, I had discovered some GF crumpets, so that was my next option for brunch. They were very satisfactory.

I watched some golf on Fox Sports with Adoring Husband and then came to bed for the afternoon, where I napped while watching the footy.

An easy dinner by taking spaghetti bolognese sauce out of the freezer and preparing a side salad.

I didn’t eat dinner but made myself some tea (the ‘relax’ tea that AH bought me for Christmas) and took a couple of slices of turkey breast from the fridge.

Now I’m watching the first episode of the new series of Masterchef.

Except for the morning, I’ve enjoyed my Sunday.

Nite all.
