Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Is it Possible?

Thursday was shopping day in The Bay.

Adoring Husband drove down to Brisvegas for an appointment with his Professor. He had a mate, Mr Burrum, for company and who shared the driving.

On the way down there, they detoured into Sunny Coast to visit the Discount Golf shop, where AH purchased his anniversary present from me. He decided on a new, very pricey putter that was discounted to a great price.

They left here at 9am and arrived back here after 8pm. A long day.

Today was a journaling day for me.

I currently have seven journals active and in use daily or weekly.

1. My photography journal where I brainstorm ideas for 52Frames. Current theme “Luxury” and so far I have bubble bath with candles, wine, rose petals, music and a book on top of the list.

2. My gratitude journal where, every day a write three things for which I am grateful. It’s almost full!

3. My “Thank you Roz” journal where I thank myself for things like taking time to heal my heart, for being assertive when necessary, for being a supportive friend, for valuing confidentiality of others’ stories, for turning up every week for meditation, for creating my own safe space and for making time for me. I’m only 8 pages in on this one.

4. My “Things I Love” journal. Eg I love the sound of rain on a tin roof. I love putting a fresh bin liner in the empty bin. I love drinking the first cup of bone broth out of the slow cooker. I love the sound of Willy Wagtails singing outside my bedroom window. I love the smell of banana bread cooking in the oven. I love the sound of tinkling chimes under the Bali hut and I love when Barry stops what he’s doing to kiss me good morning.

5. My “Mindfulness” journal where I answer - a moment that I really appreciated today - a situation that I handled well today - something that I learned today - I could have made today better by … - I could have felt more connected to others if I … - if I was my own life coach, what would I tell myself?

6. My “Current Project” journal that I fill with ever changing ideas, designs and sketches regarding my book/journal/affirmation cards that I’m developing.

7. My “Manifesting” journal which is like a diary of me living with everything that I dream of. I won’t give you details of that one.

All of this keeps my brain working, my imagination awake, my written communication skills fresh and my appreciation open.

I do NOT, however, appreciate my footy tipping skills so far this weekend. I’ve lost the first 2 tips and my lead in the competition is rapidly diminishing!

Ugh 😩

Time to go manifest a win in the next game.

All Nothingness

I spent most of the day on YouTube so the best I can tell you is that I used the leftover mash to make chilli tuna patties for dinner and served them with a garden salad.

Absolutely nothing of interest occurred and I am ready to sleep now.

Birthday Girl

I dragged myself out of bed early to make sure BGWLBH received her birthday gifts before she left for her day out.

She hadn’t mentioned anything so I wasn’t sure if I was sharing her day or not.

We gave her a drop pearl pendant set in silver filigree. Just beautiful.

The second gift was a silver bracelet with a silver feather charm with a quote “when there are feathers about, angels are near”.

The last gift was a 12 month BritBox subscription.

She was very happy.

She did invite me to spend the day with her and we started at Arkarra Tea Gardens for breakfast where we shared our table with five blue cheeked honey eaters (again, no photos!) who enjoyed the tomato relish that came with the bacon and eggs.

From there we shopped. Lotto, dog food, junk food, art supplies, make up, juice and much browsing.

We were home earlier than usual and apparently just missed the man from council checking on dogs in the area to make sure they are registered and wearing their tags. Harley wasn’t so Barry was berated.

While we were out, I secretly bought a corned silverside to surprise BGWLBH for dinner.

It’s her favourite meal with mashed potatoes and veg (carrot, beans, snow peas and zucchini). I won’t usually cook silverside because I believe it’s an unhealthy option, but ‘just this once’, I decided to back down.

I had purchased a selection of GF cakes from Su Jus cafe so I displayed them on some cute little cake stands, added a candle and a happy birthday sign … I can’t believe I forgot to take photos … and I sang happy birthday.

So it’s been a nice day and I’m tired now so …

Perfect for Parking

Today's weather was perfect for parking your butt on the couch or your bed and binge watching something.

I binge watched "Jet Lag: We Raced to Visit the Most European Countries in Six Days".

Harley got to play twice.

I baked barramundi in the oven with butter, lemon, garlic and thyme for BGWLBH. Leftover meatloaf for Adoring Husband. I served them with a salsa made with avocado, pear, tomato, red onion, cucumber and a delicious chilli dressing. Also with home made big curly chips on a stick.

I submitted my photo for 52Frames theme of 'negative space' ...

One of these days I'm going to plan a photo and do it properly long before the cut off - instead of leaving it til I only have a couple of hours left to submit!

Tomorrow is BGWLBH's birthday. I think she plans on going out on her own, but I want to get up early so that she can open her gifts before she leaves. That means it's time to sleep for me.

Up & Up

In terms of my health, today was a much better day than the last three!

I got out of bed late, showered and dressed and played with Harley until it was time to go see The Gypsy.

I had to postpone our date on Saturday when I was still feeling under the weather, so today was it.

We sat on the upper deck of the house where she is pet sitting, overlooking the water through some beautiful tall trees where there were so many native birds singing and enjoying the seeds or nectar that were available.

The wind was making just the right sounds through the leaves but not blowing strong enough to be uncomfortable for us.

It was the perfect spot. Very private and very picturesque. I wish I’d taken a photo!

We chatted over our herbal teas for exactly 4 hours! It was difficult after that time to stop talking and to leave! We never run out of things to talk about.

Adoring Husband picked me up and I arrived home to watch the football which had already started.

My tipping was pretty poor this weekend, however, I’m still in the lead because nobody caught up to me. My sister even took this week as her joker round so she got double points for her tips. She is still 2 points behind me and I still have my joker round to use!

I made meatloaf for dinner with maple roasted pumpkin and charred haloumi. For dessert, I made apple strudel which I served with dairy free ice cream for BGWLBH and I, salted caramel ice cream for AH.

We even squeezed some trivia in after dinner and I was in bed by 8.30pm.

Now I’m watching more of Jet Lag from my bed.

That’s it from me.
