Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Coupla Days

Having spent quite a few hours writing over the past two days, I’m feeling very accomplished!

My “It’s all About Me” book is coming along nicely with lots of information for my kids, maybe even too much information in some parts!

It’s amazing how difficult it is to make time to write, but once I start, everything just flows and then it’s difficult to stop.

I’m enjoying the golf on TV until early hours of the morning and then sleeping until 9 or 10am. Harley seems very happy to play along with that routine too, which helps.

Friday and Saturday are my cooking-free days, so I’m able to fill those hours as I see fit.

We’ve had a little rain today, but Harley still enjoyed his two playtimes without issue.

The footy finals have been played this weeken with just one game left tomorrow. Adoring Husband’s team, the Sharks, defeated BGWLBH’s team, the Roosters, tonight. My team, the Broncos, play Best Cousin in the World’s team, Raiders, tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon.

She and Marco Polo are in Canberra to watch the game, so that should be exciting. The atmosphere will be amazing and I expect that the Raiders will win. That will mean the Sharks play Broncos next week and THAT will make for an interesting atmosphere in THIS house!

I hope to write some more tomorrow but right now, I am going to fall asleep, once again, to the sound of club on ball.

Massage Absolute

Yesterday, BGWLBH and I were booked in for a Japanese Head Spa.

I went first.

For 45 minutes, I lay on my back on a special bed and had a delightful treatment on my hair, a scalp massage, gentle neck and shoulder massage, followed by both arms and hands massaged with an organic lotion.

It was just lovely.

I left the room to find BGWLBH in the waiting area, but she stood up and left! It was supposed to be her appointment next!

Outside, as we made our way to the car, she proceeded to tell me that I had completely misled her and that my girl told her that she wasn’t qualified to massage!

😳 WTAF!?

So I said “Well isn’t it interesting that I just experienced a lovely 45 minutes of massage!?”

It certainly wasn’t a deep tissue massage, but it was a lovely, gentle, relaxing massage and I don’t know what BGWLBH actually asked or why the girl said that she didn’t do massage.

None of it makes any sense to me.

So the girl lost a sale, BGWLBH missed out on a lovely experience and I went from feeling dopily relaxed  to feeling confused and stressed in a matter of seconds.

I have not spoken to BGWLBH since she yelled at me and I am using my meditation lessons and skills to process and release. It is taking longer than I anticipated.

🥴

Today, I caught up on The Block episodes and basically spent the day in front of the TV with Adoring Husband on one side and Harley on the other.

Right now, I’m watching the BMW PGA Golf Championship Round 1

I imagine that I will fall asleep to the sound of club on ball.

Tomorrow, I plan on catching up on some GAIA documentary series and writing some more of my book.

To partner my change of diet, I’ve been practising ‘fasting’.

On average, since 25th August, my fasting period is 17.4 hours between dinner and my next meal the following day. Once, I went 26 hours!

Most days, I have to make myself eat because I don’t feel hungry and I have no cravings. Maybe I should see how long I can go without eating.

Perhaps a 2-7 day fast for me?

I’ll think about it.

Time for me to sleep now.

This is Harley after 15 minutes of chasing a ball.

Recovery Time

The US Open tennis grand slam is over for another year.

I woke at 5am on Monday to watch the men’s final between Alcaraz and Sinner. I tipped Alcaraz and he won in four sets which promoted him to number one in the world and demoted Sinner to number two.

Now, I need a week to recover from my lack of sleep over the last two weeks!

The rest of the day, I did some washing, played with Harley, made spaghetti bolognese with sauce from the freezer and watched an old movie called “Let’s be Happy” starring Vera Ellen and Tony Martin and made in 1957. I loved it.

I went to bed early and slept from 10.30pm - 6.25am.

Today was meditation day so I rode my trike there, arrived on time and enjoyed 90 mins of class.

Afterwards, I’d planned an hour chat with The Gypsy, but a last minute text from BGWLBH offering a trip to town to work on my considerable list, changed my plan.

We spent 3 hours in town still not completing everything on my list, however, tomorrow, we are heading back into town for a Japanese Express Head Spa. That’s 45 mins of head, neck and décolletage massage with a hydrating face mask and hair soak.

Sounds divine.

Tonight’s dinner was chicken scallopini with mash and greens.

It’s now after 11pm and time for sleep.

Sleepy Sunday

Not THAT sleepy 🫤

I washed some clothes.

I watched a Netflix movie called “The Thursday Murder Club” starring Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie and David Tennant, among other familiar faces. I enjoyed it a lot.

I caught up on episodes of The Block that I missed during the week.

I did NOT set my alarm for the women’s tennis final, but when I naturally woke up, I turned on the TV to catch the presentation of the trophy. I was very happy that Sabalenka won.

I WILL set my alarm for 4am to watch the men’s final in the morning. I invested too much time into the last two weeks to miss that.

I watched the last round of the season for NRL. The finals begin next week! It’s both exciting and sad at the same time. I miss football in the off season.

There’s always cricket, golf, darts and tennis to partially fill the void.

I made fish bites, sweet potato and potato wedges with salad for dinner.

Now it’s almost midnight! Time to sleep!
