Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Halfnhalf

I started the morning cooking breakfast for BGWLBH and Adoring Husband, playing with Harley for an hour, hanging out washing and doing a couple more loads, bringing AH’s washing in, cooking the vegetables for Harleys meal packs, cooking my chicken sausages for MY breakfast, making a smoothie for BGWLBH and cleaning the kitchen.

I finished the morning and the remainder of the day planted in front of the TV watching Netflix movies.

I cooked sweet sticky chicken with boiled potatoes and garlic asparagus and green beans for dinner.

That was my very ordinary and uneventful day.

Tomorrow is Bathurst day, so we girls are deciding whether to escape Dodge or just find something more interesting to do at home.

Time to sleep now.

Whales - Take 5

There will be a Take 6 on Monday!

Today was a “be in the moment” kind of day.

I didn’t take my camera and I put my phone away so that all I had to focus on was the whales. Just me looking at the whales in the water, not through a lens or a device.

Most of the day was quite beautiful …

Some of the day was like this …

The trip home was like this …

It was a lovely way to spend the day after the drama of Wednesday and its painful aftermath. I still only have some niggles in my neck and between my shoulder blades but not enough to complain about it.

BGWLBH seems to get worse as the days go by, but the doctor did tell her she’d feel it for about 6 weeks and it would get worse before it got better.

After we left the marina, we stopped at Urangan fisheries where I bought a bag of crab meat and half kg of mixed prawns.

We did lotto and Su Jus juices at Pialba and then got stuck in gridlock school traffic that was backed up from the University on Old Maryborough Rd all the way to Xavier College on the road to Burrum Heads.

We bypassed that turn off and continued toward Maryborough, turning off and driving the back way home to avoid the ridiculous traffic.

I picked up our mail and shopped at the local butcher.

My two men (Barry and Harley) were both wagging their tails with happiness to see me arrive home.

I got changed, unpacked the bags, made the chicken marinade, prepared my crab sandwiches, took Harley out to play then, with my sandwich in hand, planted my butt on the couch where I remained until 7.30pm.

I’m now in bed watching “The Accountant” but think I’ll be asleep inside 30 minutes. It’s 9pm.

Super Duper Dog

BGWLBH is very sore from yesterday’s dingleberry. She’s struggling a bit.

I get a niggle every now and then at the top between my shoulder blades and at the base of my neck, but it’s not causing me any grief. It’s just enough to remind me about what happened.

We drove into the Bay (again) today to finish what we’d gone in for yesterday.

Harley has been practicing his super dog dives …

Tomorrow, FINALLY, after two postponements, we get to go whale watching! So it’s time to sleep now.

Dingleberry

The Boat Club postponed our whale trip today. We are now going on Friday.

Because we had a list of errands a mile long, BGWLBH and I drove into the Bay anyway and methodically worked through the list.

Unfortunately, after we had left Go Natural at Torquay, as we were waiting at a ‘give way’ sign on the corner of Ann Street and Boat Harbour Drive, an elderly gentleman in a big white 4wd rear ended us!

It was a mighty hit which busted his roo bar but thankfully didn’t initiate our airbags.

We took photos of him, his car, our damage and wrote down his name, address and insurance company name.

We visited the nearest police station to verify the gentleman’s information, because he refused to show us his licence or anything with his details on it. The police verified the info.

We drove home and while I made lunch, BGWLBH made the appropriate phone calls for the insurance claim. They made an appointment with the Smash Repairers for this afternoon at 3.30pm so, taking advantage of this unexpected opportunity, we climbed back into the car and returned to the bay.

The smash repair guy was very helpful, took lots of photos and gave us great advice.

BGWLBH has been driving for 45 years and has never had an accident so she is very green when it comes to insurance claims.

From the second that the man hit the car, BGWLBH began to feel pain in her neck and back, then came the headache, so we stopped at Dr Bill’s on the off chance he would see her. She was in luck and he took the time to check her out and write up a report just in case her injuries deteriorated.

She has whiplash and he found damage and advised her on what to expect in the coming weeks, also advising her to be x-rayed to rule out bone damage. He also prescribed anti-inflammatories.

Me?

I’m feeling slightly stiff and sore. My head took a good whack on the head rest and I got a bit of a fright, but I’m fine.

It’s going to be three weeks or more before the car can be repaired but it’s drivable, even though the screen has orange warning lights in place of the usual information that’s displayed there, and we can’t open the back hatch.

It was an eventful day and I’m feeling pretty weary about now.

I am Better

After a good nights sleep, I felt much better than I did yesterday. Still a little tender in the tummy and a little bit weak, but much improved.

The Gypsy also was unwell overnight with a migraine and her usual health issues, so meditation and hoop chi was cancelled this morning.

I felt relieved that I could stay in bed and not be rushing to go out.

She was feeling better by this afternoon and I got to have a session with her - always therapeutic and enlightening.

Spag Bol for dinner.

Plenty of Harley play.

I think we’re going into The Bay tomorrow morning - due to unsettling weather, our whale watch trip has been postponed until Friday, but we have a list of errands and groceries that need to be done tomorrow.

Best sleep now.

No Winner

😩😭😩😭😩😭😩😭😩😭😩😭😩

Broncos were winning by 16 points!!!

They lost.

So disappointing.

Ugh.

BGWLBH and I drove into The Bay today. We did some drive bys past a few houses that are for sale. They were scattered in some back streets, some on bigger blocks, one in a dodgy area and a couple that were way too close to the neighbours but none that she could really afford.

We shopped and browsed through QBD, Big W, KMart, a couple of boutiques and we sat in a cafe on the waterfront drinking coffee and watching activities out in the bay.

We did a grocery shop and then drove out to Farmgate where we purchased some fresh mulberries and loquats, zucchini, kiwi fruit, asparagus, creamed Manuka honey, a jar of creamed garlic and two dozen fresh eggs.

We had quick and easy tacos for an early dinner so that we could relax in front of the footy.

Ugh!
