Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

A Little Productive

I ate breakfast by the pool at 10am.

I swam, exercised and floated in the pool for an hour.

I spent an hour in my art space sorting through some old jewellery and choosing what to keep for my own art and what to offer participants in my future classes.

I cooked/baked for an hour, making paleo caramel chocolate fudge.

I watched Pirates of the Caribbean with Adoring Husband.

I prepared lamb chops, leftover frittata, char grilled zucchini, salad, sweet potato discs and garlic mushroom sauce for dinner.

Before I came to bed I watched the latest Ghost Busters movie. I think it’s my favourite of the four movies that were made.

While listening to some music as I lay in bed, I started some coloured doodling. The lined paper is not easy to work on and I don’t know how this is going to evolve, or even IF it will evolve, but the colouring is very therapeutic for me.

Actually all art is very therapeutic for me. It puts me in a meditative state and calms my mind.

I have no Sunday plans but I’m pretty sure the pool will be another goer. The water was absolutely perfect today and I imagine I’ll have a lot of days soaking up the sun and stretching my body with swimming and exercises over Spring and Summer.

For Art’s Sake

After doing some washing and considering a swim a the pool, I chose to stay inside and get my art on.

Using a glue gun and inflicting third degree burns on the tips of two fingers, I managed to put this together…

I’m pretty happy with it, although I feel like it needs something more, I’m just not sure what.

This is the jewellery tree that I’m making for Chicklet. I haven’t glued it all down yet but it has the last gold pendant that I gave my Mum for her last Christmas …

A New Zealand medallion because that’s where she was born …

The grain of rice that I had her name engraved on …

Zombies, cats, owls, Harry Potter coin, bats and dragons because they are things she has loved over the years, ‘you are my sunshine’ because she is my sunshine, “and though she but little, she is fierce” pendant which I bought when she was a baby, “when I grow up, I want to be me” with a thistle because she made a slow motion video of herself blowing the seeds off a thistle and, of course, the key to my heart.

On Vegan Chickie’s advice, I will, one day, give it to Chicklet in person so that I can explain all of the components to her and why I chose them.

Who knows when that may be but I hope that time is not too far away.

Thank goodness it’s Friday because I began to stress over what to cook for dinner when I realised it was Adoring Husband’s night for dinner!! Ha!

We just watched the old ‘Hocus Pocus’ movie (Bette Midler) and now I think I might go to bed.

The pool will definitely be calling my name tomorrow.

The Next Bit

Here is Part 2 of The Real Anthony Fauci movie.

There aren’t many days available now to watch it for free, so watch it very soon!

Nite all.

Baby Win

I am NOT $160million richer.

I AM $37 richer.

A little disappointing.

My plan for making a LOT of people financially comfortable has gone by the wayside.

For now.

BGWLBH and I drove into The Bay to purchase our lotto tickets today and while we there, we stopped at Bunnings to grab some piping for the Zodiac pool cleaner. After four years, the pipe has split and deteriorated and needs replacing.

For dinner I made a couple of roast vegetable frittatas. One with cheese and cream for Adoring Husband and one without for BGWLBH.

I also used up the remaining roast veg and chicken to make a bubble and squeak.

Lots of goodies from the garden to make a salad to go with dinner.

There were more storms tonight with thunder that rattled the windows! The wind blew the rain directly onto the front windows and the rain was very heavy for about 20 minutes. It’s the first storm that has hit us full on for quite some time. It was a little scary.

I think I’ll focus on some art tomorrow.

Nil Nada Zip

BGWLBH is still unwell but improving which is great.

This meant that I rode by myself to the Lions Park for coffee with the girls. There were five of us and the morning ranged from tearful distress to cheeky giggles and belly laughter. An emotional roller coaster if you will.

I returned home before midday and spent an hour preparing three different lunches for we three.

The afternoon was spent on my butt doing nothing of value.

I baked a whole chook with a tray full of veg for dinner. Sweet potato, potato, pumpkin, carrot, onion and buttered beans and asparagus with home made gravy. Delicious as always!

Adoring Husband slept in his chair while I watched The Block and then came into my room at 9pm, upset because I’d deserted him! So I played my miniature violin, kissed him good night and told him to bugger off 🤪

That’s the long and the short of my day.

More Storms

More rain and storms today.

Nothing damaging, just heavy rain for about 30 minutes.

Today’s storm travelled from Gundiah, reached Howard and split in two sending one to us and one to Hervey Bay.

There are more storms forecast for Mon/Tues/Wed next week.

We may have dodged a bullet as far as the big flooding event goes. The southern states copped the worst of it, although the coming 4 months have some hairy forecasts attached.

A nothing day for us today.

BGWLBH is still out of action.

Looking forward to catching up with the art girls tomorrow morning.

Panic Stations

This afternoon, the steamy muggy weather produced storms. They were popping up everywhere and joining together to form a wall, then separating and moving in different directions.

They intensified and then dissipated keeping everyone on their toes. Higgins Storm Chasers even posted on Facebook specifying that Burrum Heads was in danger of being impacted by a possible tornado. I can’t find that post now, but I found these …

3:50PM WIDE BAY DANGEROUS SUPERCELL INC. TORNADO POTENTIAL: A very dangerous supercell is located over Howard and Torbanlea. This cell is moving East and is LIKELY producing destructive winds, giant hail & heavy rainfall. There is enough gate to gate shear for a TORNADO to be possible!

This storm is LIKELY going to impact Torbanlea and the area South West of Hervey Bay. SEEK SHELTER NOW!

When the first storm was very close and the warning came up, Adoring Husband and I rushed outside to pack away the pool furniture and cushions into the pool kitchen room.

At that time, the storm was almost directly above us and it was loud and threatening but thankfully it blew out to sea and all we got was about 5 minutes of rain!

It was serious enough for me to clear space in my walk in robe (which is quite small) for AH, Colli and I to fit if the storms came with full force.

Fraser Island, which has its own weather system, has a big impact on storms that come in our direction. More often than not, storms split and move away from us or simply dissipate to nothing just before they reach us.

This is a good thing.

So it’s now 11pm and there are a few showers about, but no storms.

BGWLBH is still unwell and spent the day in her room.

I did nothing productive all day except cook dinner tonight.

That’s ok.

Crazy Cooking

Vaccine compensation claims and Pfizer did NOT know if the vaccine stopped transmission when they released it. It was even announced with a laugh.

Now, little by little, all the stuff that I’ve posted on here over the last 2.5yrs is being trickled out onto MSM.

Of course I was a conspiracy theorist and people dumped me from their lives and even ghosted me but Mainstream media release tiny pieces of the same information over a long period of time so that it’s not ‘in your face’ and nobody bats an eyelid.

Don’t even get me started.

Today was a day of two extremes.

BGWLBH has another sinus infection. Her second in four months. She looks, sounds and feels dreadful so she spent all day in bed.

I remained in bed until 11am.

I made a cup of tea and decided to get cooking in the kitchen.

  1. A paleo chocolate/caramel fudge brownie.
  2. A paleo carrot cake with lemon cream cheese frosting.
  3. A shredded vegetable salad with cauliflower, broccoli, carrot, parsley, sesame seeds, lemon juice maple syrup and diced orange flesh.
  4. Coconut crusted chicken bites with spicy pineapple dipping sauce.
  5. Sweet potato French fries.
  6. Tomato, cucumber, avocado salsa.
That took five hours of my very precious time!

The brownie is delicious. The carrot cake heavy but nice. I like the shredded veg salad and am looking forward to having it on toast in the morning with some ham. The coconut crusted chicken was ok but the recipe has some flaws that I need to work on - there has to be a better way.

Im a bit slack with the photo taking aren’t I? I need to pull myself together!

My joints have been aching like nobody’s business today, especially my elbows. I definitely felt like an old woman as I worked in the kitchen.

I’d say that this week is going to be quiet with BGWLBH bedridden.

AH wanted to get a hair cut so we might head into The Bay some time. Rain is forecast for Tuesday and then again next weekend so we’ll have to choose our day.

I forgot to mention that Number One Son gave me a call on Saturday afternoon. He’s very happy with his new girlfriend who he has been dating for 6 weeks. He has just recovered from his second bout of Covid-19 (so glad he got all those protective shots) and has spent a couple of days in Adelaide with the unenviable job of firing a few people.

He’s doing well and I'm really happy for him.

The weather has certainly improved for us here, not so much for the southerners and it’s looking bad for poor Lismore again. Moree and Gunnedah are badly flooded and there are massive storms hitting locations all over NSW and VIC.

That’s all my news for today… except for clever Chicklet’s latest drawings …

and now I'm off to the land of nod.
