Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Much To Do

We left bright and early for the Maryborough markets this morning.

On the way, we stopped at Craignish traffic lights when they turned red and some crazy person came flying down the right hand lane (where people usually turn right) and he drove, at high speed, straight through the red light, narrowly missing a car coming from the left onto our road!

BGWLBH and I just gasped and looked at each other as if to say “Did that just happen?!”

It was a very unsettling start to our day.

Thankfully, the rest of the trip to Maryborough was incident free and we arrived safe n sound to walk the markets where I found lots of dog treats for Harley, some gluten free donuts, a hand made card and some natural pain relief cream.

We found a cafe to sit down and eat breakfast. I had mushrooms on gf toast with whipped feta cheese and roasted tomatoes which was quite tasty. I also ordered a Ruby Tuesday fresh juice and a small latte.

After breakfast, we finally got to visit The Bling Thing in the new premises. It was my first visit and I was quite disappointed really. I expected better quality products and a better range of jewellery - after all ‘bling’ implies shiny sparkly things!

She did sell the same range of reed diffusers that I used to sell in my shop from a supplier in Bundaberg, so I bought some of those.

From there, we walked through Station Square Mall where I bought some birthday gifts to store away.

We found Lincraft where we were excited to discover that their primed canvases were 40% off! So we stocked up on them and I found some macrame twine in gorgeous colours at half price so I grabbed a few rolls of them too.

I’ve never even done macrame before but I’m ready to teach myself once I’m done with all the art pieces I’ve planned!

We drove to The Bay where BGWLBH cancelled an order for a dehydrator because what began as a two week wait, blew out to a two month wait with The Good Guys.

The car was topped up with fuel.

We ordered some fresh juices from Su Jus Cafe before returning home.

It took quite some time to unpack the car and we were both exhausted for the remainder of the afternoon! We are getting too old for all this gadding about!

I received a call from Number One Son while I was cooking dinner tonight, which was lovely.

Dinner was duck and mash.

I watched the Rabbitohs thrash the Dolphins tonight, which was not good for my tips!

Now it’s time to sleep.

Nite all.
