Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Day 103 in a Year of my Life

From this ...

Comes this ...

I need to be there much earlier in the day when the light is better.

The cactus plant is so harsh with sharp edges and dangerous thorns and the shape is pretty ordinary, but when it's flowers bloom, the flower is so delicate and beautiful and completely opposite to the plant itself.

I don't like cactus plants, which is why I don't grow them in my garden, but I adore the flowers and when I see them in full bloom like this, I often reconsider.

I guess that as long as the people around me grow these lovely plants, I will continue to take advantage with my camera, at the times when they are at their most magnificent.

It's nice to photograph something beautiful, instead of all the ugliness and destruction during this last 10 days.

Today, I'm grateful that Mother Nature can still show us her gentleness and beauty, after the wrath  that she shared with us on the 27th January.  That doesn't mean that I have completely forgiven her ... but I'm getting there.

Nite all.
