This is how I started my day ...
A glorious Summer morning :D
It started out very warm, developed into bloody hot and then changed mid afternoon to cooler and mild.
Thank goodness!!
I found an interesting article that I wanted to share. It's only short.
http://www.petapixel.com/2012/01/10/this-photograph-is-not-free/
I've been asked by people if I sell my photographs. As soon as the question is asked, I withdraw.
I withdraw into my head, pulling the big black curtain across it, and I feel guilt about the thought of charging money for my photographs. Why?
I've often discussed digital photography and how great it is that the results are instant and we don't have to wait for film to be developed or discover, after paying the high costs of developing, that the photographs are duds.
I've often ended the discussions with the fact that the price of cameras have increased dramatically with the digital age, which makes up for the cost of developing, but I didn't take into consideration all the other accessories like filters, flashes, tripods, editing software, the computer etc etc etc.
So this article not only appealed to me, but helped open that big black curtain in my head and now I can seriously consider the idea of selling my photographs without feeling the guilt.
I created a new album on facebook and posted a dozen or so photos over the last couple of days. My ego has been suitably massaged by some friends and family, so I'm feeling good.
I'm feeling especially pleased that my little brother has acknowledged my stuff. It's nice.
Almost midnight again!
Nite all.
I'm lazy and selfish and spend too much time on the internet. I love to be creative with photography and jewellery and sketching with pencil and pastels. I'm happier now than I have ever been and I love everything about my life ... where I live, my home, my fantastic grown up children, my lifestyle, my friends, my dogs and last but not least my wonderful adoring husband. Life is good!
Nice to see you!
Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.
Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.
Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**
Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!
So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!
Welcome to my dilemna!!

Tsk! tsk! Rqqzy! I haven't read the article, but my immediate reaction is that the COST of
the photo isn't at all about the cost of the
equipment or the processing. We are willing and
eager to pay for the creative view you and others have of what you see. We are keen to own
the ART work of the photos. They stir the heart!
I would love you to be making cards for sale. xx Grannymus xx
Did I put both my feet in 'it' or only one??
xx grannymus
LOL @ grannymus! You didn't put any feet anywhere! I take on board your card suggestion and will put it on my suggestion 'list' for future reference ... which will be seriously looked at before September this year and may even be included in the exhibit! I will keep you posted!
I also appreciate your comment about my photos being Art and that it's not about the 'costs' .. thank you :o)
