Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Thank You Surf Club

We had a lovely day.

It was a slow, lazy start but we eventually pulled into the driveway of Rebel Mardi and The Lifesaver to begin our lunch date.

It was so good to see them and it was generous of them to give us some of their precious time because they’ve been very busy lately with lots happening and not much time to themselves.

Thanks 🙏 lovely people.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the golf club where the views were amazing and the service very friendly, but the noisy raffles after lunch sent us in search of the quiet outside deck at their home so that we could hear each other speak.

After three enjoyable hours - still not long enough to really catch up properly - we hugged goodbye.

Rebel Mardi had recommended The Wharf where, she said, it had been done up with great restaurants and little shops so we stopped in there on the way home to have a wander round and buy our afternoon coffee.

I checked out a couple of boutiques and bought a top on sale 🥰

Adoring Husband drove us home and then he walked downstairs to get our afternoon tea.

GF choc chip gelato in a GF cone. Holiday heaven!

I was feeling really worn out at 4.30pm and lay down on the bed. If I’d fallen asleep, it would have been all over for me so I jumped out of bed and suggested to AH that we walk to the surf club so that I could play the pokies while he watched an old footy game on the telly, followed by an early dinner.

It was a very successful visit. AH got to watch an old Cronulla Sharks footy game from last year where they had a good win! I won almost as much money on the pokies as I’ve spent since we arrived!! Now I can start again!

I ordered a roast dinner, which was just ‘ok’ and AH ordered a surprise seafood curry, which he really enjoyed.

We walked home along the beach path and even though it was dark, there were lots of families on the well lit beach, playing in the parks, sitting at the picnic tables and playing beach volleyball. The energy was fantastic and made me feel like it was an area I’d enjoy living in.

Now we are parked on the couch in our apartment trying to keep our eyes open at 8pm!

All this fresh air and socialising and shopping is wearing us out!

This is my new top ...

Nite all.
