Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Stormy Weather

It was a weird kind of day.

Harley woke me at 5.45am and we cuddled on the couch for half an hour.

There was an early storm and we received a good downpour of rain

I made myself some tea and toast for breakfast and soon Adoring Husband left for The Bay to have an ultrasound on his damaged foot.

While he was gone, I wrapped all of Chicklet’s birthday gifts in plain brown paper and wrote on each one explaining why I had chosen it. I had to write on two cards because Harley chewed the good Harry Potter card … it was still usable but obviously well chewed!

As soon as AH returned home, we drove to the Post Office to send the parcel Express Post. $56!! Crikey!

Chicklet is worth it.

I took Harley out to play fetch and after about five throws of the ball he wanted to go for a swim - I knew this because he did not return the ball to me - instead he took it to the pool gate and dropped it there, then looked at me as if to say “Come on! I’m hot and it’s time to cool down in the pool!”

So he swam and we played more fetch until I knew he was worn out.

It was time for me to gather some old shop stock to make up a hamper for Best Cousin in the World to raffle off to raise money for breast cancer research. I put together more than $800 in value …

I think she will find a nicer basket than this one.

I finished my octopus art but I’m not at all happy with it. I wish I hadn’t listened to advice and left it as it was.

Harley wanted to play some more …

But there were storms all about. Lots of thunder, lightning and rain but he wasn’t bothered by any of it. I did discover, however, that he doesn’t like to pee in the rain! Instead he pees on the mat inside the back door! Ugh!

I made dinner for AH and BGWLBH but didn’t partake myself.

While we were all in the lounge room tonight, Harley decided to chew AH’s computer cord in half, so AH then spent the evening researching to find a new cord to order online.

Hard lesson learned.

We’ve had storms all night with some good rain. There are still more heading this way so it might be an interesting night.

Best Cousin in the World is visiting tomorrow. The plumber will be here in the morning to unblock the pipes leading to our kitchen sink. It’s supposed to be coffee morning with the art girls but the rain might spoil that idea. We’ll see.

Time to sleep now.

Nite all.
