Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Mini Post

Just a mini blog post to let you know that I arrived at my destination, safe n sound this evening.

The flight to Sydney was uneventful, until we were about to descend, and were advised by the pilot that it was raining with 60km winds at ground level!

So descending through the heavy grey clouds was a very bumpy ride indeed, however, the pilot was obviously very skilled and I experienced one of the best landings ever in Sydney.  I've landed in Sydney MANY times.

I was trying to work out how many flights I've managed to rack up and I calculated very close to, if not over 100 flights.  There would be well over fifty just in the last 10 yrs.

In the early days, I would use a good number of sick bags during the flights.  In fact, on one flight to Griffith, in a small 12 seater plane, I actually used ALL of their sick bags!

In those days, I was so nervous about flying, that I  'threw up' on a number of tarmacs as I found my way to the bottom of the stairways into the plane.

I believe that it took about 40 flights before I found a way to relax and let go of the fear ... without the use of drugs (which I used for about a dozen of the flights).

Even though I still feel uncomfortable about flying, I can easily control the fear and discomfort these days and can force myself to sleep through most flights ... I find that that makes the time go a bit faster.

So I arrived at my destination on a very clear, still and cool evening, where my BFF - BGLWBH (beautiful girl with the long blonde hair) was waiting for me with open arms.

Now I have my fleecy pyjamas on and I am between warm fleecy sheets, ready for a nice sleep.  It's been a long day and I am feeling very weary.

My mini post has ended up a bit longer than I'd planned LOL.

Nite all.
