Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Deeply Sad

It’s only been a week since we lost little Ruby and today we had to say goodbye to cranky Jack.

He was our special boy, the ugliest in the litter and I chose him because he looked ‘broken’. It took some convincing to get Adoring Husband to agree to him coming home with us but they quickly became besties which made today absolutely heartbreaking.

Jack was a sick little boy with the vet telling us she suspected brain lesions. Just like Ruby, he deteriorated rapidly and we had to call the vet out to the house. He passed quickly and peacefully.



I’m grateful that he’s at peace and even though he was mostly noisy and cranky for his 15 years on this earth, there is a huge gaping hole in this house without him. Such a big presence for such a little dog.

When will the DAA, the Australian media and the Australian people be aware of the plethora of recent scientific studies supporting the Paleo concept.  Most recently, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the highest impact factor nutrition journal in the world, just published a meta analysis of randomized controlled trials and concluded that the Paleo Diet is one of the most effective dietary strategies to reduce body weight and prevent the risk of chronic disease.  Will the media ask the DAA to respond to this study?

Below is a comprehensive list of scientific studies evaluating the Paleo Diet.  It is simply irresponsible for the DAA and the Australian media to ignore this data. Will the media stand up and do an investigative story or will they regurgitate the OPINIONS of out of date Dietary Associations as the health of millions of Australians could be positively impacted with this information?
