Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Super Duper

I had a blinder of a day!

It started with meditation where we discussed how sometimes, for our emotional health, we need to leave people behind who are not ready to move forward with us and how we shouldn’t allow anyone to hold us back or allow then to overstep our boundaries when it’s to our detriment.

Obviously over the period of an hour, there was a bit more to the discussions but we all got a lot out of this class and there was lots of talking even when the class was over. Some of the participants even returned during the day to give more feedback.

I put The Happy Hippy to work on the new steamer and she got through quite a few of the garments in her hour.

The Gypsy stayed for about an hour and as always we had some meaningful conversations.

From 10am onwards the customers just kept coming!

Sales were fabulous and I was kept on my toes all day with time for just a cup of tea at lunch time.

I have to say that I was not feeling very well for most of the day so it was a stretch for me to make it to closing time. I feel better this evening and I think a good nights sleep will help.

When we left the shop this afternoon, there was a bushfire that had gotten out of control in the centre of town. The smoke was crazy and dense …

My bedroom window was open so inside the house was smoky and my eyes were stinging.

Adoring Husband had to hose down the Bali hut because burning embers were floating through the air. He also folded down the pool umbrella to prevent ash build up.

He was called out on SES duty to help with traffic control and they blocked off one street with detours.

A wind change late in the afternoon sent the smoke and embers in a different direction but the fire was still burning after dark …

For AH’s dinner, I cooked bacon wrapped asparagus, stuffed zucchini, boiled potato and grilled tomato. I had a creamy veg and chicken soup out of the freezer for my dinner.

It’s bed time for me now.

Nite all.
