Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Three Hours of Bliss

Chicklet and I spent three hours together today.  Poppy was with us for the first hour, and then he had to leave for an appointment, so we had two hours alone.

Vegan Chickie and the Bare-chested Chef went to the movies to see 'The Hunger Games'.

So Chicklet and I read books, danced with the dollies, put things into and out of boxes, sang 'Old Macdonald' and 'Incy Wincy Spider', played horsies, ate some cucumber and crackers, watched 'Chuggington' and 'Giggle n Hoot' on the ABC, made the ducky quack, found the key, the lemon, the nuts and the orange on the outside of the box and we had nice cuddles together.

At the end of the three hours when Chicklet was getting tired and clumsy, she fell on her face when she went to crawl and her head moved faster than her arms.  She cried a little bit.

Then she didn't quite have her balance near the coffee table and slipped onto the wall.  She cried a bit then too.  But cuddles make things all better.  No big deal really.

She stood up and tried to walk everywhere today.  She fell down a lot, but she didn't care.  She just got back up and tried again.  She's so cute!

She was very happy to see her Mum and Dad - especially her Mum - when they came home.  She practically threw herself into her Mum's arms.

I had a lovely time.  I was a bit worried that Chicklet wouldn't last out the three hours without crying for her Mum, but she was fine :D

I love my little baby so much.  She is such a joy and I can watch her for hours.  Every movement, every facial expression, every sound ... they are each a little miracle and she reminds me of the joy that I felt when her Mum was that age, learning new things every day.  Amazing little human beings.

I did get a couple of photos ...

and before Adoring Husband returned from his Drs appointment, I got to spend some time on the pier getting some photos.

The conditions were dreadful and I was almost blown off the pier.  My hair was blowing everywhere and by the time I walked off the pier, my hair was a matted tangled mess that I couldn't even run my fingers through without pulling some out.

I took a lot of photos while I was there and I will post a couple of them tomorrow.

For now though, the babysitting has worn me right out so it's time for bed.

Nite all.
