Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Researching

Instead of watching the fear mongering mainstream news - because they use dramatic music and vocal tones that make everything seem worse than it really is, and because they are selecting the worst examples of human fear and panic to make us feel like we are all out of control - I went in search of interviews with Drs and Scientists.

I got lots of interesting information, which if I remember, I will share in the coming days, but the one doctor who provided some interesting insights was Dr Gabor Mate . That link will take you to his website.

He specialises in addiction, stress and childhood development, and is very intelligent, articulate and well informed in world affairs.

He states that in January this year, when Covid 19 first came to their attention, the World Health Organisation asked the 195 countries of the world for $675million to help respond to the virus.

That equates to $3.5million each, which in the scheme of things, is a spit in the ocean (especially compared to the great costs of shutting down our countries to try to combat the now out of control virus).

What they received was a pittance $54million - which equates to $276,923 per country.

All because the world believed that this virus would be confined to and only affect the East.

Shame on you all.

So The Motivator and I made the decision today, to close The Happy Abode until further notice. We are not an essential service and we all need to take responsibility for flattening the curve.

All the states of Australia will have closed their borders by Tuesday, which means THE road trip for Beautiful Girl With The Long Blonde Hair and I is postponed indefinitely.

😢😢😢

Adoring Husband is feeling a little better today so we must be doing something right. I juiced some more pineapple, banana and mango. I sliced up a sweet fresh pineapple for an afternoon snack. I made another big batch of chicken and veg soup. I piled his plate high with broccoli, cauliflower, carrot and potato in their jackets with his duck breast. Gut healing multi vitamins to help boost his immunity. Seems to be working.

So now with our minimum two weeks of self isolation, I wonder what can be achieved in that time? I will put my thinking cap on and see if I have any “aha” or “light bulb” moments!

I’m so grateful to be living in our fairly isolated town where it’s easy to disappear from the world, practice self isolation and social distancing without too much bother.

I hope that you all take good care of yourselves and makes sensible decisions to benefit yourself, your loved ones and your community.

Nite all.
