Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Set The Bar

It doesn’t matter how sick and tired you are of the news, you need to keep informed and something we need to take very seriously is the fact that there were 257 new cases of Covid 19 registered today.

If that happens every day for the next two weeks, that will be another 3600 sick humans in our country, but the fact is, the numbers will probably be much higher than that.

Any restrictions on social contact that are put into place today, will not even begin to have an affect for at least two weeks. So the situation will get worse before it gets better.

Be very very selective about the time you spend in public ...

... (excuse the language) and because Queensland has been dragging the chain, we are more susceptible than ever.

So it’s probably time to come up with some activities to fill the extra hours that we spend at home.

My list includes:

  • Studying more of my business course
  • Practicing my paint pouring
  • Embellishing my disappointing art with amazing pictures
  • Cooking to fill my freezer with meals, just in case there comes a time that we cannot leave the house
  • Adding more to my “Health & Happiness” course.
  • Journaling
  • Washing windows
  • Clearing my pantry
  • Binge watching Netflix series
  • Reading some Audible books
  • Keeping our nutrient intake very high
  • Swimming while it’s still warm enough
  • Playing with my essential oils and making blends to aid our health
  • Meditating
  • FaceTime coffee dates with the girls
  • Keeping in touch with my family members and monitoring their health
  • Practice my hooping
  • Staying in bed late
  • Saving money for my now postponed 60th birthday road trip
I will also be starting a new gratitude journal because that’s been scientifically proven to improve your health.

The heading will read “I Will Thrive and Survive Covid 19 - 2020”

  1. I am grateful to be in a position to feel safe and protected in my home during self isolation.
  2. I feel grateful to have the financial means to keep my pantry & fridge stocked with healthful foods.
  3. I am grateful to have the tools within to keep the stress & anxiety at bay during this uncertain time.
I’ve already opened a new journal for this one and I expect we’ll be journaling for a good 3 - 4 months.

Stay safe.

Nite all
