Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Perfection

Today was such a perfect day.

The weather was glorious. It was a cool start all snuggled down under the covers but once the sun was up, it was very comfortable for wearing sleeves, jeans and boots.

The sky was clear, the breeze was slight, the waters were calm and blue and there was a pleasant ‘calm’ all around in The Bay.

Adoring Husband and I had a lunch date at Cafe Balaena.

Dean, the owner, greeted us and took us to our table. I could see that he had a vague recollection of seeing me before but he wasn’t certain so I pretended that we knew each other and I formally introduced Adoring Husband to him.

He replied with “Oh Adoring Husband! I’ve heard so much about you! So nice to finally meet you and put a face to the name.”

Truth is, I only met Dean once last week when the girls and I were there for my birthday lunch. He sang and danced “Happy Birthday” to me - only because the customer he had planned on singing to had to leave unexpectedly.

We’ve never had a conversation about Adoring Husband or anybody else for that matter.

But he meant well and made me laugh.

Our lunches were delicious ...

... and the service was very friendly and efficient.

We bought dessert to take away and we were so keen to eat it tonight, I didn’t get a photo! I can’t remember what they were called. One was a cheesecake and the other a torte but that’s the best I can tell you. They were freaking delicious!

After lunch I needed to hunt for canvases and paint. I couldn’t find any canvases at a reasonable price, but luckily, I have just enough for the next workshop. I bought a LOT of paint, a couple of sketch pads and some paint brushes.

We did some grocery shopping and on the way home stopped off at Craignish for some fresh seafood.

There was enough time to unpack our shopping, get changed, feed the psychotic dog and drive to my shop to clear the training room and set it up for morning coffee and journaling.

We picked up the mail which included even more paint and a big box of Ivys bags, wallets and purses which will be my main chore tomorrow, checking, pricing and displaying.

Dinner was dessert.

We are now watching Big Brother.

Both of us are feeling weary, and at 6.30pm we were surprised at how early it was because we thought it was closer to 9pm!

Time for bed.

Nite all.
