Anybody who knows me, also knows that I do my best work under pressure!
Whenever I am going to be away from home for any length of time, it doesn't matter how much notice I have, I never pack until the night before.
I spend the couple of days leading up to my departure, making a list of all the things that I will need, so that when the time comes, I just check off the list as I pack.
Following this routine, it usually takes me about thirty minutes to pack for a long trip, unless I have to iron clothes (which I only do if I'm not going to have access to an iron where I am going).
Today, I spent an hour in the bedroom trying on outfits that I could potentially take with me on my trip to see BGWLBH.
I was pleased to discover that my big Italian wool coat still fits me and is in good condition.
I was displeased to discover that I can only do up my jeans by lying on my bed and breathing in tight!
So, I figure that I need to lose about four kilos before Friday (that's four days away!) so that my jeans will fit me comfortably while I'm away.
Vegan Chickie offered to be my personal trainer to motivate me to use my gym equipment to remove unwanted weight over the coming days.
Between the cross-trainer, the mini trampoline, my trike and maybe even a little walking, I might be able to lose a couple of kilos.
Thank goodness my feet don't change size with my weight loss/gain! I have plenty of shoes!
So I partly packed my suitcase with the clothes that I selected today. The majority of my clothes are made of materials that travel well and require little ironing anyway, so that's a bonus.
I fear that by partly packing, this will take me out of my usual routine and mess up my system. I do NOT do my best work when I am organised!
I think, tomorrow, I will empty said suitcase and wait until Thursday night because everybody knows ...
I ALWAYS do my best work under pressure!
I'm lazy and selfish and spend too much time on the internet. I love to be creative with photography and jewellery and sketching with pencil and pastels. I'm happier now than I have ever been and I love everything about my life ... where I live, my home, my fantastic grown up children, my lifestyle, my friends, my dogs and last but not least my wonderful adoring husband. Life is good!
Nice to see you!
Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.
Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.
Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**
Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!
So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!
Welcome to my dilemna!!
