Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Forced Productivity

The Childers trip was cancelled again.

Unforeseen circumstances caused the understandable cancellation.

It happened at the last minute, so I was up and showered, sitting wrapped in a towel with hair dripping.

So I dressed, made myself presentable for being in public, made a list and asked Adoring Husband to be my chauffeur.

He took me to the hairdressers so that I could purchase my favourite shampoo/conditioner/treatment.

We stopped at the shop to pick up my deposit book and a couple of letters that I needed, did some banking, picked up a big package of new stock from the Post Office, did a grocery shop and then returned home.

I made brunch and returned to bed to do some work including ordering some stock and figuring out more tax stuff.

Later I put some lamb shanks in the slow cooker and we returned to the shop to clean up the art room and set up for coffee and journaling.

I discovered that my slow cooker is wired incorrectly. The ‘high’ temperature control is actually ‘low’ and vice versa. It has only taken me seven years to figure this fact out! I usually set the control to ‘low’ and I always thought it strange that the contents would bubble away on low.

Today I set it on ‘simmer’ and four hours later I checked to discover that the water was barely warm - which sucked because that was supposed to be dinner! Ah well, now it’s tomorrow night’s dinner.

I threw together a mixed grill instead.

We watched The Voice and now it’s suddenly 11.30pm!

Time to sleep.

Nite all.
