Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Recovery

Saturday was a mighty big day.

Firstly, due to the tennis, I only managed 3 hours of sleep on Friday night, so my energy level was pretty low when we left for the markets at 6.45am Saturday morning.

It started out a bit chilly, but it turned into a glorious morning with blue skies and sunshine. There were lots of new stalls and all the regulars as well.

The chat was all about the change over from the old market organisers to the new Progress Association organisers. According to every stall holder that we chatted with, this is a good move and the markets will probably grow even bigger from here on.

I purchased a cute little bracelet with stars ($15), some pineapple/mango jam, tomato relish, roasted capsicum, a huge rainbow coloured striped rug to throw over the outdoor lounge under the Bali hut, a Christmas gift, a lead light hanging mobile for under the Bali hut, magnesium oil infused with frankincense (4 bottles) and a bunch of health products - some that I can name and some that must remain unnamed!

It only took us 90 minutes to do the rounds but BGWLBH had to do a run to the car to dump our purchases so that we could start again at the halfway mark!

We left the markets at 8.30am and we arrived at where we thought the Gem and Crystal Expo was being held, only to discover that it was NOT being held there!

Luckily, as we were leaving the house that morning, Adoring Husband suggested that I take the leaflet with the details printed on it. I had scoffed at him telling him that we knew exactly where it was … but I was wrong! We were mistaken, so it was LUCKY that we had the leaflet.

There was a lot take in from raw, natural rocks, crystals and gems, to cut and polished rocks, crystals and gems, to beautiful jewellery creations with all types of gems, semi precious gems and crystals set in gold, silver, stainless steel and other settings.

I saw a massive clear crystal ball that I would have LOVED, but I didn’t even look at the price because I know how much my smaller crystal balls cost and I imagine the price would have been somewhere between $2000 - $3000, if not more.

I purchased a very pale blue kyanite pendant, a Navajo silver and turquoise eagle feather pendant and a Christmas gift for BGWLBH which I’ve already packed away. She purchased a piece of jewellery for me for Christmas as well.

It was 11am when we left there, by which time, I was exhausted, still trying to operate on 3 hours sleep!

We found somewhere that served late breakfast and I ordered a fresh pineapple/orange juice which hit the spot perfectly, giving me a little pep in my step.

We found a supermarket for some afternoon junk food before heading home.

I don’t even remember what time we arrived home, but I made myself a big crab and prawn salad with fresh tomatoes from the garden, avocado, spring onions, lettuce and lime juice, salt and white pepper and dragged myself to bed to scoff it down and fall into a food coma.

I slept for 90 minutes, but remained in bed for the rest of the afternoon and evening.

I watched tennis until 10.30pm and then fell back to sleep until 7am today!

Today has been recovery day.

I rose at 9.30am, played with Harley, made breakfast of sour dough toast with fresh garden tomatoes, watched two movies with Adoring Husband then returned to bed mid afternoon for another short nap.

Sunday night is spaghetti night, so nice and easy.

I’m back in bed now waiting to watch some more tennis. Djokovic plays tonight, so it might be a late night.

Nite all.
