Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Kitchen Success!

I woke with much more energy and motivation this morning!

We had a Sunday morning sleep in until about 8.30am - which is very unusual for both of us.

I spent the entire day in the kitchen and made:

  • Seedy Bread
  • Tangy Mayonnaise
  • Key Lime Pie
  • Four Cheese Spinach Tart
  • Moroccan Lamb and Rice
  • Nut Seed Spheres
  • Coconuted Cream
I did stop for lunch, which was a slice of spinach tart, with fresh prawns and some of my mayo with lime zest.

Delicious.

Tomorrow, if I have the same level of energy and motivation, I want to make some feta cheese and some Greek yoghurt.  I definitely need to make something chocolatey too.  Oh and some ice cream!

It's well after midnight.  I need sleep.

Nite all.

Wow! What a delicious selection of food...and all good for you too!
I've been making my own goats cheese (chèvre) lately just using a litre of goats milk and a third of a cup of lemon juice.
Homemade cheeses are sooooo much nicer (and no preservatives!)
