Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Whale Day

Well, this is the 7th year we've been whale watching, and on the same boat, with pretty much the same crew, except there was a new Captain this year.

This year, I am sad to say, was the least enjoyable.

There were less whales.  The whales were sluggish.  The boat was full with 49 passengers.  The people were inconsiderate, pushy and rude.  The new Captain was a little disappointing, but then, he has big shoes to fill.

I didn't have the opportunity to take many photos because I am short and couldn't see over or through the crowd, but here are my best two shots.

The weather was glorious and the rest of the crew were friendly and happy, so it was beautiful out on the water.

When we arrived home, we had enough time to download our photos and clear our cameras ready for a spectacular sunset down at the river.

Those photos will have to wait until tomorrow, because for now, it's bed time.  It's been a long, tiring day.

Nite all.
