Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Sharing Shots

Because it's almost midnight, I'm just going to share a few shots that I've taken in the past few days, including my challenge shot for the 'self portrait' challenge.

Self Portrait

This one was taken by my brother (he knows I've stolen it)
I went for a long ride this morning, for the first time in weeks.  It was great to be out in the sunshine, soaking up all that vitamin D.

I found so many nests, I lost count and there are Bee Eaters EVERYWHERE!

The Tawny Frogmouth who hatched the three chicks last year, is now sitting back on the nest!  I'm very excited about that :D

I even spooked a goanna down near the beach.

Spring has definitely sprung.  One of my challenge shots is themed "Spring is in the Air" (nature) and I have tried to get a couple of shots of the little chicks in the nests, but the parents keep attacking and swooping me, so I don't know whether to persist, or give up and try something else.

They make me feel like I am in an Alfred Hitchcock movie which is quite frightening (for the 8 yr old in me who watched that movie so many years ago!).

So the thinking cap is now on for an appropriate Spring shot.  Something special.  Not just the run of the mill new bud on the tree, or the bee on the flower or vegetables sprouting in the garden.  It has to be something memorable.

This means I need to take another ride tomorrow, bright and early.  Best get some sleep then!

Nite all.
