Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Catching Up

Well this is an interesting concept …

What do you all think about this? I also am my most creative and connected self from 1-4 am…

The most dangerous lie in human history isn’t about food.

Its not about medicine. Its about sleep. For 200,000 years, humans didnt sleep 8 hours. That number was actually invented in 1938 by a mattress company called Simmons Beautyrest. Before their campaign, the average human slept in two shifts. Historians call it “Biphasic Sleep.” You would sleep for 4 hours, wake up for 2, then sleep for another 4. During that 2-hour window, people would pray, have s*x, write, think, and connect with their families. Some of the greatest works in human history were created in that sacred middle window. Shakespeare wrote most of his plays between 1AM and 3AM during his second wake period. Mozart composed entire symphonies in what he called “The God Hours.” Then the Industrial Revolution needed workers on a fixed schedule. You cant run a factory on biphasic sleep. So they hired a psychologist named Dr. Nathaniel Kleitman to “prove” that 8 consecutive hours was the biological standard.

He faked the studies. He was funded entirely by the mattress industry. And the medical establishment adopted his research without question because it aligned with the factory model. They turned the most creative 2 hours of human consciousness into a “sleep disorder.” They called it “Insomnia.” They medicated it. They gaslight an entire generation that 8 hours of continuous sleep was healthy. They pathologized the exact window of consciousness that produced some of the greatest art, music, and literature in human history. You are not an insomniac. You are experiencing the most natural form of human consciousness. And a mattress company convinced you it was a disease.

Interesting huh?

I’ve been very “blog absent” lately and I thought I would wean myself off this dedicated space because I’ve been doing it for over 15 years!

But … it has been a very valuable tool, much like a diary/planner, that I can refer back to when we forget things like … the last time the pool guy was here, what date we built the carport, when I started my new raised vegetable garden, the dates I missed meditation etc etc.

So I’ve decided to continue writing daily, even if it’s really boring shit, like what time I wake up and what I cook for dinner. You can choose to continue reading my words or you can choose to search for something more interesting to read.

I attended meditation on Tuesday but didn’t get time with The Gypsy because she had to work straight after class.

I bought myself a small coffee and thought I’d sit by the river for 30 minutes before going home. Instead, I was waylaid by a resident who has lived here for 6 yrs but is now moving back to Brisbane. I received information overload for almost 3 hours.

My life has been very insular for about 4 years, so this man brought me up to speed on just about every resident in town. Every conflict, every movement, every health issue, every drug deal, every boatie living on the river, you name it, he knew about it!

Needless to say, I was mentally drained by the time I finally arrived home and needed to spend the rest of the day in my bedroom regenerating some mental, emotional, spiritual and physical energy!

Wednesday was my ‘change the bedding’ day - exhausting, as always!

Thursday was a day in the bay where I found two tops. One from me to me and for BGWLBH to purchase for my birthday, which is coming up next week.

Friday was a visit to The Gypsy. She is house and dog sitting in town so we spent a quality 4 hours together.

I’m doing ok in the footy tipping. Not spectacular, but ok.

Today, BGWLBH and I woke up extra early (5.30am) and drove into the bay to attend both markets on the esplanade. This is where BGWLBH bought many gifts for my birthday. I can’t even remember everything that she bought! Lots of jewellery, a solar powered hummingbird for the garden and I’ll have to tell you the rest next week.

I found a woman at the Torquay markets selling all the fabulous super health products like MSM, colloidal silver, methylene blue, belly bugs probiotics, iodine, cbd oil and turmerix to name just a few. We spent a good 20-30 minutes chatting about all the products and how she uses them.

I purchased some methylene blue and she gave me a sample of the belly bugs with strict instructions.

I got some gluten free Lebanese bread, gf cinnamon donuts, a loaf of spelt sourdough bread, freshly made lemonade, a spray bottle of magnesium/frankincense oils and walked across the road to Go Girl, where I purchased a top for Adoring Husband to give me for my birthday.

We also did a small grocery shop before returning home, both exhausted haha. We are too old for this nonsense!

The two men in my life were very happy to see me home.

I came to bed for a nap at about 4pm and that’s where I stayed. I’d made myself a sourdough sandwich with avocado, cranberry jelly, goats cheese, sprouts and turkey breast for a late lunch so I didn’t need dinner.

Now it’s time for sleep. I hope to enjoy a lazy Sunday tomorrow.

Nite all.
