Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Too Cool

The water was way too cool for swimming today.

It’s been over a year since it was done, so I decided to start clearing out the pantry. One purple garbage bag later, two and a half shelves were cleared, culled, cleaned and restocked.

I could have pushed myself to finish the entire pantry, but I didn’t feel like it - simple as that 😬

So I stopped and watched some more Grey’s Anatomy.

I found this. It was created by Leonie Dawson, whose yearly planners I bought for three years.

It’s now been three weeks of isolation and I’m beginning to miss my social routine, so that means, sometimes I’m going to feel like poo 💩 and I’m sure I’m not the only one!

So I made another list of things I can do to cheer myself up or ease that ‘poo’ feeling.

  • Go outside in the sunshine
  • Write letters to my family
  • Watch a sunrise or sunset
  • Listen to music
  • Read my favourite book
  • Use my essential oils
  • Watch comedies

Some other things to Do when I’m not feeling so ‘poo-like’

  • Create a jar to fill with gratitude notes
  • Create a time capsule of “time in quarantine” in a box
  • Have a candle lit dinner
  • Stick positive affirmations around the mirror
  • Take a tour using google maps
  • Make fermented vegetables
  • Write a bucket list
My old photography group had a 2 hour challenge this morning. The teacher set the theme of ‘PLASTIC’ at 10am which gave us til midday to complete it. Problem for me was that I didn’t see the challenge until 11.40am.

I posted this at 12.01pm and therefore was not in the running.

He’s going to have these challenges on a regular basis during our time of isolation, so that will be a nice distraction.

Time to watch one more episode of Grey’s before going to bed.

Nite all.
