Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Fishing for Hail

My brother is currently fishing on the Maroochy river and stuck in the middle of a hail storm.

This is not good.

He will text me when it’s over 😳

On Wednesday, I spent a delightful 4 hours in the bay by myself while BGWLBH did volunteer work at the art and craft shop where she sells her art.

I can’t even describe how much I cherish solo time. It happens so rarely.

I browsed a stack of shops. I sat in 2 cafes and enjoyed a cup of herbal tea in each, just sitting for about 30 minutes people watching. I love people watching.

For the last hour, I hit the RSL club and played the pokies and Keno. I took $100 out of the ATM and left with $150! Very satisfying.

BGWLBH had a successful and enjoyable afternoon in the shop and picked me up at 4pm.

Adoring Husband had dinner prepared when we arrived home which topped the day off beautifully.

The only blemish for the day was yet another close call on the road. Close enough to make BGWLBH yell in fear and left both of us shaking our heads in disbelief that we escaped a possible 3 car collision that would definitely have resulted in at least one death.

We survived.

Thursday was morning tea with the art girls.

I spent some of that time telling our resident author how amazing her writing is. Just a small example of her work …

Olivia, one month shy of her 2nd birthday, looked like an angel with her halo of chestnut hair that like spun toffee, floated around her ears in a whisper of soft curls.’

How do words like that appear from a person’s imagination to a page in a story? I spend so much time rereading sentences and creating images in my head. It’s not just reading a book. It’s experiencing another world in the most beautiful and descriptive way.

It was a 2 hour visit where we caught up with all the news and gossip ending with another planned gathering in two weeks.

I pedalled home, stopping at the supermarket for some ingredients for our dinner menu.

Sausages with a garden salad and a broccoli and strawberry salad.

Today is Friday and I spent the day again in the bay. It was a cooler albeit still muggy, showery day. We visited most of our usual haunts, but came home with little to show for it.

Harley was happy to see me home. AH had news regarding his broken coffee machine. We all made our own dinners (even though it’s not ‘fend for yourself’ night) and I came to bed at 3.30pm where I read some more of the book, journaled, watched TV and played Texas Hold’em.

It’s now 10pm and the movie “Suddenly 30” is on TV, but I think I’m ready for sleep.

Nite all.
