Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

More Baking

Another long night of golf watching, although I DID get a solid four hours in the middle somewhere.

It was 9.30am when I forced myself out of bed.

30 minutes playing with Harley.

10 minutes in the garden.

While I made breakfast, I sent Adoring Husband to the shops to pick up my parcel from the PO Box, buy some butter and a small takeaway coffee.

I planned to bake for a while and THEN create jewellery.

Not using a recipe, I made a key lime pie. Problem was that I made too much crumb base, so I decided to make a passionfruit cheesecake filling and fill four small tart bases as well.

Then I realised that I’d made too much meringue so I plopped the leftovers onto a flat tray and cooked it for 2 hours in a low slow oven … which created marshmallow.

By this time, I’d been in the kitchen for over 2 hours and certainly had no motivation to create jewellery!

Approximately 2 weeks ago, I slammed my ankle into the metal frame of the sliding laundry glass door. It hurt like the Billy O, took my breath away and made me curse. I don’t bruise, so I couldn’t get any sympathy from my house mates.

Today … 2 weeks later, I found this!

I was so happy to prove I had an injury!

I sat down and rested for an hour before reentering the kitchen to make a wombok salad and potato salad to go with the crumbed chicken that I’d removed from the freezer in the morning. The very same crumbed chicken that I’d prepared on Saturday during my cookathon.

We had an hour of trivia before all heading to bed.

Lots of funny stuff on TV tonight, but I believe I will sleep well tonight, and very soon.

Nite all.
