Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Movie Solo

Today, Adoring Husband had to go into The Bay to run some errands, so I decided to go for a ride with him and had him drop me off at the cinema to be picked up a couple of hours later.

I went to the movies alone.

Because of the Parkinson's Disease, Adoring Husband struggles to sit through a movie for a couple of hours. There is no support for his head and neck in the cinema seats, so the tremor puts a lot of stress in that area, causing him some pain afterwards.

I imagine that for any other couple, this might be a problem, but luckily for us, I really enjoy going to the movies solo!

Today, I saw the movie "Tammy" starring Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon. There were quite a few other big names in it too. Kathy Bates, Allison Janney, Dan Aykroyd, Toni Collette and Sandra Oh.

I quite enjoyed it, but I suggest that you don't go rushing out to see it. It's one that you can wait to watch on dvd in the comfort of your own lounge room.

Episode 9 of The Truth About Cancer ... (it's so nice to know that some of you are watching these!)

Now I have to give Adoring Husband a neck and shoulder massage ... because I love him :)

Nite all.
