Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Resonate

I found this yesterday and it really resonated so here I am sharing it …

*** My grandmother once gave me a tip:

In difficult times, move forward in small steps.

Do what you have to do, but little by little.

Don’t think about the future

or what may happen tomorrow.

Wash the dishes.

Remove the dust.

Write a letter.

Make a soup.

You see?

Advance step by step.

Take a step and stop.

Rest a little.

Praise yourself.

Take another step.

And then another.

You won’t notice, but your steps will grow more and more.

And the time will come when you can think about the future without crying.

I received a phone call this morning from Lovely Laine inviting me for a coffee at the local shops.

Both of our husbands have Parkinson’s so every so often we provide support and a shoulder for each other. We had a pleasurable 90 minutes together - both drinking coffee, when in fact we both prefer tea!

I bumped into Aggie and Beauty both of whom I rarely see these days.

When I arrived home I debriefed with Adoring Husband and BGWLBH and made a tropical smoothie for lunch.

I searched for some free macrame patterns online to show BGWLBH what I would like her to make for me … then I felt inspired and decided that I might teach myself how to do it myself! My inspiration could disappear in a puff of smoke at any time of course, but we’ll see how things go.

I watched my quiz shows before cooking a lamb roast with potato and sweet potato straight out of our garden - delicious - carrot, onion, beans and home made gravy.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow night (Friday) when I don’t have to figure out what to cook and AH does the dirty work.

Time for me to sleep! It’s almost midnight!

Nite all.
