Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Distracted Big Time

Saturday was interesting for me.

I scrounged through my wardrobe and found all the paperwork for the journaling course that I created and taught at the shop five years ago. The course was called "It's all about me".

I discovered all of the question sheets and the large journal that I had filled with the answers to those questions.

My new laptop has the "Pages" app that allows you to create just about anything, including a book, which is what I decided to run with.

On Saturday, I wrote the 'Introduction' page, completed the first two chapters and got most of the way through the third chapter, when I realised that it was after 1am and time to pack up for the night! I forced myself to put everything away and attempt sleep.

Unfortunately, my brain was fully engaged in the task at hand and it took another hour for me to relax enough to fall asleep.

This is why I didn't do the blog post that night.

I wanted to do more of the book today, but I thought Adoring Husband might like my company for a while. We watched a Netflix movie and then two games of football.

My tipping was appalling this weekend and I have slipped to second place on the tipping ladder. I'm very disappointed but I think I can catch up next weekend. Time will tell.

I found some prepped food in the freezer and made nachos for BGWLBH and reheated chicken meatballs in rich tomato sauce served with pasta for AH.

It was a nice easy option that required little thought and little time.

Right now, it is raining heavily and, on the BOM, it looks like it will stick around for an hour or so. It will be nice to fall asleep to that lovely sound of rain on the roof.

I think I'll finish chapter three of the book first. I'd like to be able to do a little bit each day, so that I feel like I'm accomplishing something and I'll be able to see that it's moving forward, even if it's slowly.

Here is one of the pages with questions ...

Choose the ones you've done and write down your memory of the experience. Some of those experiences will be interesting enough to include in your book and some, not so much.  There are 8 pages of 'have you ever' questions.

There are, altogether, 48 foolscap pages full of questions.

Nite all.
