Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Still Recovering

My tummy is still quite sensitive today and tonight. I imagine that it will improve by tomorrow, but there will still be some tenderness. Very annoying.

I didn’t get out of bed until after 9am and even though nobody had seen sick little me since 8pm the night before, nobody had even checked to see if I was still alive.

BGWLBH had left for The Bay quite early in the morning and Adoring Husband had been in the shower for 20 minutes before finally coming up for air and wishing me good morning.

He left for golf at 11.30am so I enjoyed about 90 minutes of peace and quiet before BGWLBH returned.

During that time I watched the Kevin Costner movie “Message in a Bottle” also starring Paul Newman as his Dad and Robyn Wright Penn (when she was married to Sean Penn).

The pool guy came and advised that the reason that fungas is growing on our pool steps is because the chlorinator hasn’t been working for probably a month or more - it’s been 6 weeks since the pool guy was last here.

Very annoying.

So Harley can’t go in the pool for a week while the treatment is in the pool and until the chlorinator is repaired.

Also very annoying.

I gathered enough energy to make my chicken volcano for dinner - chopped chicken, onion, capsicum, celery, pumpkin, mushroom, zucchini, garlic, thyme, paprika, chilli, salt, pepper and a T of sour cream all cooked in a pan and then placed in a ramekin. On top of that goes mashed sweet potato and white potato and Parmesan cheese.

30 minutes in a very hot oven (220°C)

I served that with a side of snow peas and green beans.

THAT is one hell of a serving of nutrition right there.

We played some trivia.

We all went to our respective bedrooms before 7.30pm.

That proves that we are officially old.

However, it’s already 10.20pm so I’m going to sleep.

Nite all.
