Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Day 144 in a Year of my Life

So the trusses arrived!

... and so did the rain!

We are at a stand still until the rain stops because nothing more can be done to our house until there is a guarantee of 4 fine days in a row.  That's how long we will be without a roof over the front half of our house while they replace and repair trusses.

Ah well.

Yesterday really was a joy to behold and I know there will be other days just like it in our future.  We just need to be patient!

On a happier note, Squirt (my lil sis) arrived today, so I guess the good thing is that we can have a conversation without having to yell over the noise of builders!

The boys at the Seat of Knowledge are looking forward to seeing her again, but I think she will be shocked at the state of our town, post tornado.  She was a little emotional when she arrived, having driven through some of the worst hit streets.

The rain made it impossible to use my camera today, so no photos to share.  Instead, a couple of quotes ...

Today I am grateful for my sister's safe arrival at my door!

Nite all.
