Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

It's All About Food.

I'm going to try this on the weekend. My mouth waters just thinking about it!

More study today.

My first assignment (chronologically) is an 800 word essay about physiological processes that occur during neuron function, and I have to include stuff about action potentials, axon terminals, components of a neuron cell and describing how structure is related to function.

Yes, it's all gobbledy gook to me too!

Lots of research and youtube videos and google searches and text book reading and study site tutorials. Taking lots of notes and creating simple sentences to describe complex details. From what I've read so far, there aren't going to be too many simple sentences!

Anyway, I've created a time line so that I can study efficiently to make the most of the time leading up to each exam and assignment - hopefully my nemesis, 'procrastination', doesn't defeat me. I've made a late start to this semester already, so I have to run a steady race.

Adoring Husband is on SES duty again tonight and I am enjoying Masterchef on TV. I think that I'm a pretty good cook, but I would never make a chef, let alone a masterchef!  Their attention to detail is way better than I am capable of, and their final results mostly look like 'fine art' on a plate. The pressure is also pretty intense and on more than one occasion, I've shed a tear with one of the contestants, Georgia Barnes.

She's my favourite.

I have 1kg of almonds in the dehydrator as we speak, after soaking them for about 15 hours yesterday (activating them) and I will probably put them in the oven briefly, to give them that final roasted flavoursome crunch. AH and I just finished the chocolate tart that I made on the weekend with the last of my recent batch of almonds in a crumbly nut base. Very delicious.

I adore that crumbly nut base and I need to figure out what sort of filling I will put in the next tart!

Anyway, into bed early for me.

Nite all.
