I'm lazy and selfish and spend too much time on the internet. I love to be creative with photography and jewellery and sketching with pencil and pastels. I'm happier now than I have ever been and I love everything about my life ... where I live, my home, my fantastic grown up children, my lifestyle, my friends, my dogs and last but not least my wonderful adoring husband. Life is good!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.
Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.
Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**
Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!
So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!
I slept soundly from 10pm til 2.30am but it took an hour to get back to sleep after I got up to pee and then the alarm woke me at 6am.
All things considered, I woke up feeling pretty refreshed with plenty of energy … until about 1pm when my energy was completely drained and I’d have enjoyed a nap at the shop if those pesky customers hadn’t kept walking through the door!
Meditation this morning was amazing. Instead of the usual lesson and discussions, we meditated for the entire hour. The hour felt like 15 minutes and we were all surprised at how quickly the time passed. Our bodies went into total relaxation mode and I felt like I was floating for about an hour afterwards.
The Gypsy and I had some quality time afterwards and the girls didn’t stay long in the training room.
The shop began to get get busy at about 10.15am and it was steady going for most of the day. Sales were really good but I didn’t have time to unpack the five boxes of stock that arrived on Tuesday and another box arrived today. Yet another will probably land on the doorstep tomorrow and there is still one more due after that.
So much to do, so little time!
My desk is a disaster area and is beginning to feel a bit overwhelming.
I was very pleased when Adoring Husband arrived to close the shop and it felt good to change into my slobberdog clothes and put my feet up for the afternoon.
I made lamb fritters for dinner and we watched our favourite TV show - Gogglebox. The new series started tonight.
Adoring Husband was unwell this morning so I rode my trike an hour early to work so that I could clear the tables and art stuff from the training room. It was a bloody mess, but I managed to clear most of it and open the shop with time to spare.
I didn’t have much time with the girls this morning because there were a LOT of customers through the door. Very few spent money but they certainly kept me on my toes.
The Happy Hippy came to clean and caught up with all the dusting. I’ve been asking her to steam clothes for the last two or three weeks so the dust was building.
I was expecting 5 boxes of stock to be delivered today but it didn’t arrive until 1.30pm which gave me no time to unpack it before the journaling class and then we had to find somewhere to store it because the training room had to be clear for meditation.
An unexpected phone call brought me a visitor to the shop just before lunch. The woman is from Bargara and she makes reed diffusers, soy candles, bath salts and soy melts. The packaging and designs are gorgeous and the scents are delicious so I can’t wait to have them displayed in the shop. It will take two weeks for her to create my order.
I registered for wholesale access to IRONCLAY which is an Australian jewellery designer who has her pieces created with Mexican silver IN Mexico - her ancestry is part Mexican. The pieces are beautiful and I’ve already selected a couple for my personal collection 🤣🤣🤣
Journaling class went well and afterwards we set up for meditation.
I cooked crispy skinned salmon for Adoring Husband’s dinner and served it with salad. I shelled my two crabs and had a big fat crab sandwich.
Now, it’s not even 9.30pm and I’m ready to curl up in bed. I can feel a big week ahead of me.
Even though I felt much better this morning, it was difficult to get moving and to start my day.
I received a voice mail from the local delivery guy telling me that he had five boxes to deliver to the shop. I returned his call five times but he didn’t answer and by the time he called me back, we were already in The Bay. So I can expect a big haul on Tuesday morning.
My first stop was Tinkerbell’s on The Esplanade where I purchased this …
and I put something very similar to this on layby …
It’s pink amethyst with druzy (perfectly formed crystal growths).
From there we drove to Aquavue where we each savoured a Saltnpepper Calamari salad for an early lunch.
Bunnings was next. Six lavender plants for the garden bed near the pool gateway and a planter pot for my bedroom guardian plant.
We parked upstairs at Stocklands with the intention of visiting the two new stores that opened there last week. TJMaxx was disappointing. Their prices were higher than I expected and their range of clothing was pretty daggy.
Fresh and Save - not impressed and I doubt that I’ll return.
I was, however, excited to see a pop up Su Jus Cafe right outside so AH and I sat down to drinks and muffins.
I channelled Beautiful Girl With Long Blonde Hair and bought two white tops from Just Jeans.
On my list, I had canvases and 4 balls of 4ply cotton so I trotted across the car park to spotlight. They had no canvases and no balls of cotton in the colours that I wanted.
Bugger.
We finally left for home, but on the way, stopped at Craignish for some fresh seafood.
AH waited in the car and when I returned, he tried to start the car but it was as dead as a doornail!
Flat battery.
AH was too stressed to make the call, so I phoned RACQ and they gave us a wait time of one hour.
The RACQ truck pulled up beside us 25 minutes later. He replaced the battery and we were driving into this before the hour was even up.
We were both too buggered to be bothered with a cooked dinner so toasted lamb, tomato and onion sandwiches for AH and a prawn sandwich for me.
It’s now after 11pm and I have to be at work early to clear the art stuff from the training room so it’s sleep time for me.
I’ve been in ‘rest and recovery’ mode so I have done nothing much at all today.
I imagine it will take a week to heal my insides after yesterday’s alcohol poisoning episode. I had a restless night with leg cramps, heartburn and an upset tummy.
My intake today has been lots of filtered water, 2 bananas, anti-inflammatea, a small serve of roast lamb and vegetables (thanks Adoring Husband) and a lamb, tomato, onion sandwich.
I’ve had lots of naps and began to feel better this afternoon.
I watched the new Cinderella movie on Prime Video which wasn’t bad.
Of course I did some more research.

It’s well after midnight and we are off to The Bay tomorrow so I should sleep now.
Two more recently returned locals touched base with me. It seems strange that seven of my regular customers all left town around the same time to travel and all returned after a few months at around the same time!
They mustn’t have spent enough money while they were away because they spent freely in my shop.
Thirty minutes before closing I added up my takings and was feeling quite pleased with how the day had ended … but in fact, it had NOT ended … with 20 minutes remaining til close, a bare footed woman with fly away hair and wearing black bike shorts and singlet top came bursting through the doors and like someone on a mission made a beeline towards the clothes.
I could hear her rummaging and the wooden coat hangers were clapping together as she checked each item individually and within ten minutes, she walked to the counter with three of my high ticket items. She made comment how two of them would look fabulous together and then asked how much they totalled.
She then rushed out the door declaring that she would return with money.
I trusted that she would return, packed the items and waited …
It felt like an eternity but five minutes later, she returned with a handful of cash, announced that I should continue posting photos on my Facebook page because that’s the second time she’s been drawn to the shop to spend a fortune.
Then off she flew with her bag of goodies.

I had a practice run for art class on Saturday and figured out what I needed to change.
The Brains Trust visited with her 8 foot tall grandie (maybe I exaggerate a little) and a while after she left, Aggie popped in, still walking a little gingerly from her recent surgery.
Adoring Husband arrived to close the shop.
I arrived home, got changed, ate a late lunch, drank my anti-inflammatory tea and then had to bathe not so psychotic dog Colli.
She’s very old, has very few teeth so she drools onto her facial fur and it coagulates into black disgusting muck. The same thing happens around her weepy eyes so I sat her in the laundry tub full of water and worked her clean. I gave her facial hair a trim too.
It’s now almost 11pm and I have a big day tomorrow with art in the afternoon.
I did actually write a post for yesterday’s “Howzat” heading but somehow the post got deleted and all you got was the title!

In a nutshell, Wednesday was a great sales day. Meditation class was low on numbers but we learnt about and discussed ‘ego’ and finding the sweet spot between inferiority and superiority where we feel no pain.
Adoring Husband started to set up the training room for art.
I received more stock and had to rearrange displays to fit it in!
We tried GF soft shell tacos for the first time and loved them.
Thursday was a bit quieter.
Average sales.
A visit from Mrs Bucket, The Artful Dodger and two locals who have just returned from extended trips around the state. It was nice of them to pop in and let me know they were back.
I received a box of Intrinsic stock which took an hour to process.
I paid for other orders that have now been despatched and will arrive next week. Some giftware and some quality colourful leather wallets.
Gale force conditions sent my big heavy OPEN sign rolling up the path, into the car park and over onto its side! It’s a heavy monster for little ol’ me to be lifting back up. I managed it, though I almost busted my fufoo valve!
AH finished setting up the tables for art.
I decided to make myself a pot of Roogenic’s Anti-inflammitea when I got home this afternoon and I can’t tell you how calming that was - my body went into total ‘relax’ mode. I’m gunna get me some more of that magic tea!
We had leftovers with hard taco shells for an early dinner so that AH could go to SES training.
We watched the acceptable outcome of The Bachelor followed by an acceptable outcome for the football.
First day in for the week and I’m already exhausted!
Coffee with the girls was great and it was so nice to have Aggie back in the fold. She’s looking good although obviously not yet fully recovered.
Because of those pesky customers, I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with the girls and I’m not even sure what time The Brains Trust left.
I had two boxes of new stock to unpack, check, price and display. That meant rearranging other displays to make room for the new stock. There will be more stock tomorrow and Thursday.
It was incredibly busy in the afternoon and sales were great!
Thirty minutes before closing, it finally got quiet so I had time to clear the training room enough to make space for the journaling class, which in the end got cancelled!
Adoring Husband and I set up the room for meditation and I vacuumed the training room and the shop floors before we left.
I enjoyed a couple of hours with my feet up and cooked dinner early. Barramundi with salad.
There was no reality TV To watch tonight so I came to bed at 7.30pm.

I know that there are some of you who are already vaccinated and don’t want to hear anything other than the media and your friends telling you “Good job!” and “Well done” and “Thanks to you, the world will be a safer place for our sick, elderly and our children”
However, we need to be properly aware of the realities that are being expressed by qualified doctors, scientists and medical professionals from all around the world. The realities that the media, your government and pharmaceutical companies are not telling you.
I have a library of videos, links to research, excerpts from the websites of CDC (Centre for Disease Control and Prevention), FDA (Food and Drug Administration), TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration - part of the Australian Government Department of Health), the Lancet and other respected medical journals, interviews with scientists, medical professionals, specialists in the fields of disease and virology, professionals with decades of experience, some of whom are Nobel prize recipients just to mention a few.
I think I figured out after about 3 or 4 months into the Covid story, to not share much information because for a lot of my friends, sadly, ignorance is bliss and they believe that the world leaders, governments, the wealthy and powerful, pharmaceutical companies, the media and their doctors have their best interests at heart and will always lead them in the safest direction.
The people with the most to gain - pharmaceutical corporations and the wealthy/powerful (who incidentally have more than tripled their wealth and power since this all began) are the only ones feeding the media, governments and your doctor the information that you receive.
That information is manipulated, leaving out vital details, embellishing misinformation and adding vocabulary to instil drama and fear.
I avoid all news stories/programs/papers/magazines/TV as much as possible but every so often I’ll step into the world of news to experience the drama and study the patterns of vocabulary, dramatic music, manipulating rhetoric and divisive, anger provoking language.
It infuriates me for many reasons, but mostly because it helps me understand the strange conversations I have with the highly ‘conditioned’ people of this country. The people whose only education comes from the news and who totally believe that any information that comes from elsewhere is a lie.
They negatively judge anyone who chooses to educate themselves with facts and evidence from outside the mainstream media and blame those people for all that is wrong with our current situation.
I know that the majority of my friends, including Adoring Husband, stopped reading this post way before this paragraph.
I feel a bit sad because nobody gives a rat’s pizzle about what I believe, what I’ve discovered or how I feel. Mostly I am laughed at or made fun of like I am a joke.
I feel confused that with all of the information available at our fingertips, so few people are inclined to search for truth.
I feel angry that so many have been emotionally manipulated into doing something that in the end will have no affect on anyone except themselves and probably not in a good way.
I feel frustrated that the information NOT being shared by the media holds so much more weight and value and makes so much more sense than what is being handed to us day to day.
I feel grateful to anybody who has read this post to the end.
A couple of weeks late because when five people are involved, sometimes life gets in the way, but today we lunched for The Brains Trust’s birthday.
Minus our girl Aggie ☹️ and still missing Lady Lynn.
TBT is celebrating the final year of her 60s!
She selected Arkarra Gardens Cafe at Dundowran for lunch which is a lovely outdoor cafe nestled in partly landscaped, partly natural bush land on the edge of a large lagoon. There are Bali huts scattered throughout and the food and service is very good.
After lunch we strolled through the walking tracks taking in the lush bush land, listening to the bird life and making fun of each other.
We were only out for a couple of hours but it was quality time and not nearly as exhausting as our usual shopping lunches!
The icing on the cake (we actually had no cake) was the beautiful heavy rain that was drenching the town as we drove home. A couple of hours later we got a second storm with heavy rain and hail. No damage but the residual PTSD was evident in Adoring Husband.
I cooked up some vegetables and homemade gravy to have with leftover roast chicken for dinner.
We watched The Voice.
We are in bed.
It’s been a good day and I’m looking forward to some time in bed tomorrow.
