Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Another Day

I spent a couple of hours with The Motivator today and this is what we decided ...

She made me a belated birthday cake and it is delicious! It’s a paleo carrot cake. I love extended birthdays 😊🥳🥰

I made a delicious banana and blueberry smoothie today and green curry chicken for dinner. I chopped up a couple of fresh pineapples to freeze for smoothies and whips.

That was the extent of my day.

Gotta prepare for some cool and unstable weather heading in our direction!

It’s almost midnight so I’m off to bed.

Nite all

Believe it or not

The numbers of Doctors and Scientists all over the world who are trying to get information out into the world about the facts and their findings over the last 4 months regarding this pandemic is amazing.

The censorship of this information by the social media platforms is equally amazing.

I have watched about 50 videos and interviews over the last few days. Videos made by doctors on the frontline, those working in ICUs in New York, California, Washington and a couple of the European hospitals and they are telling us completely different information to what the media are telling us.

Some videos get deleted or removed almost immediately with a message saying they “don’t abide by the rules or beliefs” of eg youtube, Facebook or whatever platform.

Luckily these Drs and Scientists are persistent and continue to load their videos while many other people are sharing them and trying to get the word out there.

These are the people that we should be listening to.

Anyway, this is my favourite one for the last 24 hours. It goes for an hour but this Dr provides facts, figures, stats and information about the virus plus info about strengthening your immunity and how to prevent infection.

Dr Erickson explains Covid 19

Adoring Husband and I drove into The Bay today and it really felt like the supermarkets shelves were almost back to normal.

We found toilet paper in three different supermarkets! It was a good day!

Sleep time for me.

Brain Resting

I haven’t got much to say today, because nothing much has happened!

A true day of isolation.

Imagine how much more fun isolation would be with this!!

Even if you hate snakes, you’ve gotta love that.

Nite all.

Self Care

Ive had a nice day.

After I enjoyed my morning coffee in bed, I got up to bathe psychotic dog Ruby’s face and eyes ... yet again.

I had a shower to make myself presentable for a public outing on my trike. It was such a beautiful day for it, so I rode for about 30 minutes as well as shopping at the butcher and supermarket.

When I arrived home I made a mint condition juice and sliced up a big chunk of of watermelon which we took outside to the Bali hut. The water was way too chilly for swimming, so we made ourselves comfortable and Adoring Husband read his book while I continued my education on YouTube.

This was my favourite pick for the day.

This 11 minute video explains very simply how your internal glands, organs and immune system respond to protect you depending on the thoughts you think. (Ignore the strange, irrelevant title)

It’s the reason why I don’t watch or listen to the news - because fear, stress and anger - even in small doses, has a damaging affect inside and out.

Afterwards I did a load of washing and prepared dinner.

The day passed so quickly! We only squeezed in one episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

Now it’s almost 1am so I need sleep so that I can be awake in time for a very important phone call in the morning.

Nite all.

I’m Late I’m Late

It’s already way after midnight!

Productivity was nonexistent today.

YouTube docu-series filled my morning and after lunch Grey’s Anatomy filled our afternoon.

Thanks to The Motivator, we enjoyed some fresh mackerel for dinner.

I might attempt to fill my day with something more productive than staring at screens today.

I’ll go for a ride on my trike, do some washing, maybe do some art and ... ew ... some housework.

Today I’m grateful for

  1. This time of year when the nights are cool for sleeping.
  2. My simple, relaxed and comfortable lifestyle.
  3. The fact that my kids are so far surviving this pandemic unscathed.
Now I should get some sleep.

Eventually 😋

Mad Mad World

Denial is a wonderful thing.

I’ve been in bed watching documentaries all day.

I got up to cook dinner just before 6pm and sat with Adoring Husband until 8pm when we both came to bed.

I watched another disturbing documentary tonight and now I need to put myself in denial and watch something funny and light to clear the imagery and stories that I subjected myself to all day.

You might think I’m foolish but I believe it was necessary, on a certain level, to investigate further what I learned earlier in the day.

There is nothing to share here because I’m still trying to process. I doubt that I will ever share any of it here.

So this is a day where I hope that all the knowledge that I gained will be wiped out overnight by my ageing brain during a good nights sleep.

I’m going to meditate for light love and peace.

Late But Not

I just looked at the clock expecting it to read 12.30am.

It’s only 9.30pm

I am exhausted.

I rode my trike again today and spent some quality time with a friend - using the appropriate social distancing rules of course. I had a really great time.

Before I got home I had to stop as a very large crane was lifting an equally large boat from the back yard of a house, over the top of the house, to the front footpath. It was a tricky manoeuvre!

While I waited I chatted with a distant neighbour who told me about her medical dramas of the last few months.

I arrived home in time to prepare lunch for Adoring Husband and myself as well as assist him in getting the new clothes line cover fitted.

I received a fabulous box of gifts from Beautiful Girl With Long Blond Hair for my birthday ...

As always, perfect gifts for me.

Another friend promised to take me on a lunch date when this pandemic crisis is over. Can’t wait!

Grey’s Anatomy was on the agenda for the rest of the day and it was nice to put my feet up.

I’m really looking forward to spending the morning in bed tomorrow after three early-ish mornings in a row.

Look at this! It’s suddenly 11pm!

Nite all.

ISO Birthday

I woke up very late this morning and Adoring Husband greeted me with my morning coffee and a beautifully gift wrapped box with a birthday balloon accompanying it.

The gift was from Lady Lynn and I absolutely love it! When I clear off my dressing table, it will take pride of place in the centre and hold my favourite pieces.

Not long after that, Beauty delivered these ...

They were selected from her garden and she arranged them herself! How special is that!?

I then received a phone call from Lady Lynn and Happy Harry. They both sang Happy Birthday!

Next on door knock patrol was The Brains Trust. The time and effort put into this little gem ...

How fabulous! A few decent photos of me interspersed with my beautiful Burrum friends, makes me very happy.

It did not stop there. Sweet Aggie appeared with this beautiful bouquet of natives ...

I’m so spoilt.

I decided that I wanted this day to be different to all of the other days of isolation and the only thing I could think of was riding on my trike.

It was a beautiful day and we are allowed to go outdoors for exercise, so I packed my camera bag into the trike basket along with some cash, my phone, the post office box keys and a hat.

It’s been a good 18 months since I road around town on the trike because The Happy Abode has been taking up all of my riding time. So I did this ...

That’s VERY different from my usual isolation day!

I took a few photos and made one more short video before riding to the Post Office to pick up the Bomb Trinkety parcel that I ordered last week.

While I was riding, I received a birthday phone call from The Motivator so stopped by her house on the way home. This is the beautiful unicorn hat that was among the gifts that TM gave me.

By then I was hot and flushed from so much exercise and the day had warmed up somewhat because it was almost midday by now! I needed water!

It was well after midday when I finally pedalled home and I had barely sat down and taken a breath when Vegan Chickie and Chicklet called me for my birthday. I had almost an hour on the phone with them and it was wonderful.

During that phone call, Bubbles attempted to call! My plan was to call her back.

Also during the call, I received this ...

I sent my little brother one of my calendars for Christmas and highlighted my birthday so that he would make contact. He did! It worked! He didn’t wish me a happy birthday - just texted me this pic haha,

AH prepared my lunch.

I had a little while til my next phone call which was the Welsh Wonder and her hubby. She also sang happy birthday.

Soon I had to prepare for the birthday conference call with my girls, so I dressed in my sparkly clothes ...

I decorated the cake and placed the candle ...

Made my drink and strategically placed all my gifts around me ...

I didn’t even think about taking a photo of the screen with all of their lovely faces and I’m so disappointed that I missed that opportunity.

AH cooked up some honey chicken wings for our dinner which was a perfect way to end my day ... except it wasn’t the end because Bubbles called at about 6.30pm and we chatted for well over an hour!

While I was on the phone with her, Number One Son attempted to call! He texted me to say he was going to bed and would call me tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to that call.

It’s now well after midnight and I have to get up early in the morning so I’m off to bed.

The exciting part for tomorrow is that I will be receiving my birthday parcel from Beautiful Girl With Long Blond Hair so it’s not over yet!! Wahoo!

Happy birthday to me and Happy 10th anniversary to AH!! The celebrations continue 😍

Nite all.

The big 60 is Here!

Happy birthday to me 🎶
Happy birthday to me 🎵
Happy birthday dear Meeeeeeeee 🎶
Happy birthday toooooooo meeeeeeeeeeeee 🎵

I’ve made myself the only gluten free sweet available - a big slab of chocolate brownie which I will decorate with a single candle and sing happy birthday to myself.

I have birthday balloons which I will blow up and let float around the house to remind myself to be excited about turning 60.

I will dress up in my sparkly birthday clothes and enjoy my isolated birthday.

I’m going to make myself a margarita and then make a birthday toast to myself.

I’m going to think of something delicious that Adoring Husband can prepare for my birthday dinner.

I’m going to try really hard to NOT feel sorry for myself because I’m not on that much anticipated road trip with Beautiful Girl With Long Blond Hair.

I’m going to be excited about reaching this milestone - I have lived four years longer than my father!

I’m going to enjoy the phone calls and the FaceTime banter.

Taking these silly circumstances into consideration, I’m going to make the most of this isolated 60th birthday and do some weird stuff to make it memorable. I’m not sure what kind of weird stuff yet, but hopefully I can show you tomorrow!

It’s after 11pm so I’m off to bed.

Nite all.
