Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Tennis Junkie

Knowing that I needed to be up early for meditation, I decided to not get too involved in Day One of Wimbledon and I was asleep very soon after 11pm.

My bladder woke me at 1.09am and I decided to turn on the TV for a quick score check. Alcaraz was being given a run for his money by 38 yr old Fognini, so I decided to watch for a while - and “for a while” means 2.5 hours! It was a great match but I was disappointed that Fognini couldn’t take it out in the fifth.

I was sound asleep almost immediately on completion of that match and my alarm woke me at 6.30am.

Ugh 😩

What a relief it was to find a text message from The Gypsy announcing that she was cancelling meditation! Unfortunately, it was due to illness, but it gave me another 2 hours of much needed sleep for which I was very grateful.

I took it pretty easy for the day and played some ‘Sequence’ with BGWLBH and some trivia from a big book, watched some telly, cooked crispy skinned chicken with salad for dinner, played more trivia and I’m now in bed watching De Minaur vs Baena at Wimbledon. The Aussie has won the first two sets.

I need to be up early to go to The Bay with BGWLBH, so Wimbledon will again NOT be a priority. I’m keen to see how Djokovic plays - probably around 4am.

It’s going to be a cold morning 5°C and only reaching 19°C during the day. I will struggle to climb out of my warm bed!

Nite all.
