Fantastic NRL Grand Final game tonight between South Sydney Rabbitohs and Canterbury Bulldogs.
Rabbitohs won 30 - 6.
First Premiership in 43 years!
Rabbitohs have been the underdogs for so many years that I think all other club fans were so happy to see them win (all except the Bulldogs fans of course).
Made a delicious Roasted Sweet Potato and Chickpea salad for lunch today. It was the dressing that really made it. It had lemon, honey, coriander, thyme, olive oil, salt, pepper and chilli in it. The salad had roasted sweet potato, chickpeas, flat leaf parsley, baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, onion, red capsicum and feta cheese.
For dinner I made a savoury turkey mince, using one of my home made pumpkin and cauliflower soups as a base and I added mushrooms, onion and spinach, as well as some sauerkraut. I also added half a cup of the green smoothie left over from today. It had spinach, silverbeet, lettuce, orange, apple, carrot and hemp protein powder.
So much healthful goodness ending with chocolate zucchini muffins accompanied with strawberries, blueberries and cream.
The best part of my day was searching for and finding bargains for my text books for this term.
The first book I searched for came up at two different prices .. $245 and $189 .. I searched on Gumtree and found it for $30!!!! Secondhand but like new. Hardcover. Very happy.
The second book gave me an even bigger scare! Three different prices .. $390!!! $360!!! and $330!!!
I found it in Booktopia for $138 + $7 postage.
How is that for bargain shopping???!! Impressive I'd say :)
Well, I think I've settled from the Grand Final excitement. Time for bed.
Nite all.
I'm lazy and selfish and spend too much time on the internet. I love to be creative with photography and jewellery and sketching with pencil and pastels. I'm happier now than I have ever been and I love everything about my life ... where I live, my home, my fantastic grown up children, my lifestyle, my friends, my dogs and last but not least my wonderful adoring husband. Life is good!
Nice to see you!
Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.
Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.
Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**
Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!
So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!
Welcome to my dilemna!!
