Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

The big 60 is Here!

Happy birthday to me 🎢
Happy birthday to me 🎡
Happy birthday dear Meeeeeeeee 🎢
Happy birthday toooooooo meeeeeeeeeeeee 🎡

I’ve made myself the only gluten free sweet available - a big slab of chocolate brownie which I will decorate with a single candle and sing happy birthday to myself.

I have birthday balloons which I will blow up and let float around the house to remind myself to be excited about turning 60.

I will dress up in my sparkly birthday clothes and enjoy my isolated birthday.

I’m going to make myself a margarita and then make a birthday toast to myself.

I’m going to think of something delicious that Adoring Husband can prepare for my birthday dinner.

I’m going to try really hard to NOT feel sorry for myself because I’m not on that much anticipated road trip with Beautiful Girl With Long Blond Hair.

I’m going to be excited about reaching this milestone - I have lived four years longer than my father!

I’m going to enjoy the phone calls and the FaceTime banter.

Taking these silly circumstances into consideration, I’m going to make the most of this isolated 60th birthday and do some weird stuff to make it memorable. I’m not sure what kind of weird stuff yet, but hopefully I can show you tomorrow!

It’s after 11pm so I’m off to bed.

Nite all.
