Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Almost Missed it!

The first Rugby League Ashes Test was played last night in England.

Being in England, means that it’s televised live here at stupid o’clock.

It was advertised for 12.30am, but I didn’t realise that was “daylight savings” time, so it was televised here at 11.30pm!

I happened across the game at the beginning of the second half because I was channel surfing, trying to find something to fall asleep to.

How lucky was that!?

I found the replay this morning, so I got to see the first half.

Well done to the Aussies winning 26-6!

So it was after 1.30am when I fell asleep.

I didn’t get up until 9am and after Harley play, decided on another tv binge day.

After the football, I watched “Extreme Measures” with Hugh Grant from 1996 - excellent - followed by “Luckiest Girl Alive” with Mila Kunis - excellent.

We prepped for forecasted massive storms this afternoon. We’ve been receiving warnings for days of large hail, gale force winds, heavy rain, lightning and thunder blah blah blah.

We moved all the pool furniture and loose items into the pool kitchen and put BGWLBH’s car undercover.

Thankfully, all we got was 3.9mm of rain and a bit of lightning and thunder. Better to be safe than sorry.

Brisbane had big hail, strong winds, enough lightning to send the footballers undercover for 90 minutes and 70,000 homes lost power.

I made sad shishkebabs in a hot oven for dinner. They were not well received. I had chicken broth with a couple of wings.

We were disappointed by The Block auctions tonight and amused by the social media hammering the show received. Happy it’s over.

I need to sleep now because it’s almost midnight.

Nite all.
