Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Let’s Celebrate

It was a milestone birthday.

A big fat 69er!

To celebrate, 14 of us gathered at the local bowls club for lunch.

Lots of gifts were handed to the birthday girl and it seemed like an odd group of women, ranging from classic and stylish to crazy hippie.

There was plenty of chatter, plenty of laughter, plenty of drinking and plenty of eating.

Everybody dispersed after more than two hours of fun and frivolity, most heading to the birthday girl’s house for more celebrations. Five of us didn’t follow.

I waited for Adoring Husband to pick me up after golf and played the pokies for a while. I lost a little.

It was after 4pm when I got home and realised that I hadn’t planned anything for dinner.

I hustled and decided to cook GF pies and serve with salads. I prepared a garden salad and a broccoli/apple salad. I had just finished batching fresh broth, so I enjoyed a cup of that.

It’s been an exhaustingly sociable day and I have planned a day in the bay with Adoring Husband tomorrow, so it’s time to sleep.

Nite all.
