#news Fast Fact: Bill Gates holds the patent to 'control' hurricanes 'steer, strengthen, or weaken'
In 2008, Bill Gates and 12 co-inventors—filed five applications through Searete LLC. Key filings.
Gates is listed as an inventor. The patent is for technologies that alter ocean water temperatures to potentially control hurricanes.
The idea focuses on GEOENGINEERING solutions to fight climate challenges - like hurricanes
Gates claims that his idea is to weaken hurricanes using science saying hurricanes get their strength from warm ocean surfaces so disrupting the heat source could reduce intensity.
However some say his patents are an example of weaponizing the weather or a way to achieve population control.
Gates has publicly described this as a "Plan B" for climate control.
The patents tie into Gates' climate funding through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which funds research into solar geoengineering.
Critics accuse him of profiting from disasters, while others say unintended consequences like flooding and intense weather disasters are happening due to interference with the weather... pointing to the recent flooding in Kerrville, Texas,(which killed more than 100 people) Hurricane Milton, Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Ian.

Sadly, there was no Childers Festival for us today.
It rained for most of the night and at times it was heavy enough to wake me up, so I was psyching myself up for disappointment.
When my alarm sounded at 6am, and after a night of broken sleep, I was not feeling motivated as I checked the BOM to see what the weather was doing.
The BOM was clear and I texted Adoring Husband from bed asking him how he was feeling and advising him that I was easy either way, that I didn’t care if we went or not. He responded with “Might give it a miss, if that’s ok”.
So I remained snuggled under the covers until 9am.
Afterwards, I felt disappointment that we’d missed it because I’d saved cash in my wallet especially for some great purchases. We’ll try again next year.
Instead, we watched some golf, followed by the football. My tipping went well and I’m now six points in the lead!
For dinner, I cooked wild caught barramundi in parchment paper with lemon, butter and garlic, serving it with baked mashed potato patties and a chunky salad of tomato, cucumber, radish, pear, avocado, grape and red onion.
We played trivia before watching the first episode of the new season of The Block.
It’s very late and I think I’m ready for sleep.
Nite all.
